Serana8 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 There is a mod for SE Custom Hair Color, which lets you costumize hair color in game. Anything similar for AE? The idea is brilliant.
Just Don't Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Does the mod contain a DLL file? If it doesn't it's likely still compatible. AE is not an entirely new and different release of the game. It's just SE updated after 2021.
Serana8 Posted July 11, 2024 Author Posted July 11, 2024 There is one dll file, yes. You might be surprised just how many mods needed update after Skyrim got updated half a year ago (or something). There are now even a few mods that only work with SE and not AE, because the authors stopped updating

Most mods with a DLL. I know. It'd be a bit less now that there's more RE being done for NG plugins and Address Library, but still. Any change to the exe requires a new SKSE release and likely a new DLL. I just wasn't sure about that mod because it's not something I use, nor I can remember it. Not even sure what it does or where it's available. edit: oh Custom Hair Color. Right, I was ctrl c + ctrl v from the tittle and of course there was nothing. So for that you'd need any mod that allows editing NPCs (like NPC appearance changer although it seems to be deleted now that I check, LazyFollowers or even the EFF overlay module or Proteus, but that one is a big kind of mod and has lots of caveats on its own) + this to sync wig colors if you really need it. I will test Proteus, it might be just what I search for. 13 hours ago, Grey Cloud said: Did you happen to look at the posts on the mod's Nexus page? Yes, I did. In the past year there were several users who asked for AE version. There were a few who said the mod didn't work, but I can't either confirm or deny this. Personally I think that this is one of the few things Skyrim is still missing. It has that practical color selector, that lets you chose basically any hair color. Combine this with bodyslide and you can create pretty much any character.

In fact the author of the Custom Hair Colour got in to trouble for using RM assets without permission.

Also why waiting for a single mod to implement this feature? Like I show you there are plenty of ways to do this in game. And even more outside of game, like literally any NPC appearance overhaul. Editing thing on the fly will always come with its limitations and there are better ways to create any kind of character, be it player character or NPC.
Serana8 Posted July 12, 2024 Author Posted July 12, 2024 Really? I had no idea you can change hair color using those two. I will research this.

There are thousands of mods, and if I word it clumsily I will never find it. And like I said Big factor was, how practical it looked like. You can edit any character to literally any color in matter of seconds. If the method is clumsy you can spend 100 hours just editing your 7+ followers, and not even getting the specific detail you had in mind. For now thank you both. This topic can be considered solved, as there is much to be tried and researched.
