Nice new punishment!

You asked about afterschool activities yesterday (not me)) But I remembered that thanks to Clydie, we have some very cute animations at the ballet barre. Could the teacher train one of the students he likes anything other than ballet? Martial arts - one or more unattractive students are sent to practice their skills on a kw dummy...

Just ideas, non-binding, of course.

Unfortunately, I haven't had much free time lately. And if you want, I'll let you in on a secret: I hate programming—it's grueling and thankless work. :) I sincerely hope @Aouregan comes up with something interesting, and we can all benefit from the fruits of others' labor ;)

I am working on a general overhaul of the HighSchoolSituation.cs, but it will take a lot of time.

What I am doing is based on my own, more occult centric needs, but I am at this stage, still open for input,

Now I can still implement those changes.

The training opportunity does exist, yes. if the teacher has the required athletic skill level and relation with the student.

I do not see, why I could not add a sparring or such, in there, provided that both have the required martial arts level.

You cannot, however, have two people train on the dummy, if that is what you are asking for. That is just not doable.

If I had to give an approximate ETA on what I am doing... it would probably be around 2 to 3 months. There is a ton of game code involved, as well as KW legacy code.

I am doing it entirely based on my own needs and I do not care about any of you :D

But yeah, overhauling the High School System is a lot of work.

It basically runs of Sims University with some caveats.

Now, the thing is: I am autistic. If I talk about specific pieces of code, I expect the other to have it open. Simple as.

If you do not, we will lose each other in the conversation.

If you do not know what can be done, I will just throw up my arms and snort in derision.

You ask something, I at least expect you to have browsed the code.
Be realistic in your demands.

@Jvsmith
Back me up here, so I do not feel like an asshole XD

Oh no, I'm definitely not demanding anything. These are just thoughts on how exactly afterschool activities can be combined with a kinky theme. Nothing more) By training on a dummy, I meant not only martial arts training, but also other training; you don't need two sims for that.

:)

My latest version has been reworked from the original, making it more or less readable and logical. The school now works virtually without errors or significant lags. You can probably use it as a basis, refine it, and implement it into Katie's version or mine.

If you have any questions about the implementation of specific parts of the code, or what depends on what, I can probably help you. But I'll be away from home for a couple of weeks, so I won't be able to compile or test anything.
And don't worry about any responsibility for deadlines, bugs, or unmet expectations. No one has the rights to expect anything from us.

We don't work here for the money, and not even because we love writing code, but because we love this old, buggy game. ;)

So, I wish you success and all the best.

My man/ woman, I hear you. I will see what can be done.

The result won't be pretty, but improvable, I think.

To give you a run down of what I am planning:

Add more after school classes:

Music (a sure fire will be)

Scouting (probably a no can do)

Ballet (I really want to make this work for anyone above child.) The related hidden dance skill exists and can be learned by adults and such. I do need to enable the specific ballet moves for non-children, though. This will, however, be reliant on a store item, the light as a feather dance barre.
Sports (already exists but can be expanded upon)

Arts (It is as it is. No improvement needed, really)

Debate club and all that other shit: No. I am not gonna touch that. It is a can of worms I don't want to open. And who would want to play a debate club? Just log in here and you have it live. :))

I will add more classes, conditionally, on those class rooms existing.

You want, for example to have a witchcraft class, a room with a cauldron will have to be present. Now, they will not use that cauldron, but instead do the "play with magic" actions, raising their magic skill levels. Any student in the school not having the witch class will get it then. That one is ambitious, since students might come in with an SN class already. It will be a pain in my arse.

Honestly. what I am planning probably will run best on a pure no SN progression setting.

Also planned is gardening, alchemy, science, invention. bot building (That one I am still unsure about). I might find more as I go about it.

It is a pain already. :D

@IvaInn

Now the martial arts is stuck in my head. Thanks. XD

I will implement that. Not sure how I can/will make it kinky themed, though. Maybe I will simply add a chance that a sparring will turn more physical, if you get my drift, based on relationship levels and all that.

Horny people will already use the dildo function on the martial arts puppet autonomously, so I don't think I need to do anything there.

But yeah, adding martial arts into the schedule.... absolutely possible. I'll do it. It's just another conditional room I need to have recognized, based on the martial arts puppet or the board breaker. Perfectly doable.

It does require me to add an entirely new afterschool activity, however, so there's that.

And no, a training martial arts to someone else as such does not exist (Outside of the logic skill for teaching others that is). I would need to make that up from scratch. Not impossible.

The ballet barre and so on are recognized as athletic game objects, so someone with a high enough athletic skill can train someone on those. I do not think that exists for Martial Arts and its objects. I'd have to check, honestly. I really don't know out of the back of my head. It's a skill I really haven't used much.

If you're interested, of course. I think it would be great, especially for Eastern-themed worlds, which have their own specifics. Regarding the ability to train another Sim: if a Sim has a high level (I don't remember exactly what) of martial arts, they'll be able to train another Sim on a dummy.

I will look into it. I wasn't aware that martial arts could be trained by others. I need to dig into it.
I never dabbled too much with that skill.
It has no practical use outside of the law enforcement or criminal branch and that idle animation always pissed me of.
If you do kungfu moves after loading the dish washer, I will delete you. XD

😊

But I think implementing a martial arts club will still be a bit more challenging. Since, as far as I understand, the sports club and art club are based on the existing ones in the game, they have scheduled days. Just like ballet and music. For example, thanks to the art club in kw, my child Sims can also sign up for them (and attend them in their own rabbit hole), bringing home paintings. Although in the original game, this club is only available to teenagers. A little background information, just in case.

I do not plan on touching any of that,

So, the deal is:

I can make sims do X or Y, improving their skills in that moment. I make a sim paint, obviously their painting skill will increase,
Same goes for any other activity I decide to make them do, like the "Play with magic" I am adding.

You really need to think less restricted about a lot of those things. In theory I can add anything you want. In reality I will not go through with it, if it doesn't hit my area of interest. But that is a problem I am personally having. Autism, ADHD, yaddayadda.

At the end of the day, it's code. It can be altered and adjusted to your needs. Nothing is impossible. It is just the consideration of does the work put in validate the results?
And that is mostly where stuff falls apart. Will I try to implement a system for Martial Arts? Absolutely.

Will I drop the idea of it, once I stumble over issues in the code? Absolutely. I do not deal with stuff I know I cannot finish. Unfinished legacy code is the worst to deal with. It doesn't lead anywhere and just makes you scratch your head. And believe me, there is a lot of it in KW.

Like... if you open the HighSchoolSituation.cs this is probably one of the first things you will get greeted by

public enum ClassroomTypes
        {
            Ballet = 0,
            Scouts = 1,
            Music = 2,
            Arts = 3,
            Newspaper = 4,
            Study = 5,
            Debate = 6,
            Drama = 7,
            Shop = 8,
            Sports = 9,
            Sciences = 10,
            Cheerleader = 11,
            Normal = 100
        }

Now, how many of those are functionally included in the KW code. I can tell you exactly. It's arts and sports and normal. Some others exist, but unfinished, so I do not count those.

Could they all be made functional? Sure. Would it be worth the effort. Nyea, probably not.
If you really want a debate club in your adult mod, we need to talk. Honestly, I am curious.

However, if you can tell me why you need it and I can relate... that shit will happen. At the end of the day it is really simple.

I just slap charisma 1 on any character not having the skill yet, and have them talk for two in game hours. That's it, really.

Charisma is some odd skill anyway. Unlike the others, you need to have learned it before you can improve it, which I think is horribly stupid. So, reading a book or practicing in front of the mirror is really all you can do to initially learn it. Any other skill you can learn by doing. Not Charisma.
Speaking on a podium will not even increase it, if you don't have the skill already. You can't learn it like that, either. It's all a bit nonsensical.

If you look at the above, you will probably be like "Great, so all those exist in KW".
No... no no. Far off. No, they don't. It's dead code. It doesn't do jack shit. It's never referenced anymore. It just exists and takes up space.

These are really the only three that have any function:
Line 5811:                 case ClassroomTypes.Normal:
Line 5822:                 case ClassroomTypes.Arts:
Line 5825:                 case ClassroomTypes.Sports:

I won't be using the already vanilla included after school activities. I will do them from scratch according to my needs.
There is really no need to call on those. I don't see it serving any purpose, tbh. In order to avoid issues, I will just not reference them at all, instead making them up as I go. Which is also why I will probably not include stuff like scouting. It will be a lot of effort. It will likely remain a rabbithole activity only.

I believe several skills can be taught (ie train so n so) to another at a certain point as I believe there are wishes related to them. I also wondered why certain skills were age specific like ballet. Irl has ya/adult ballet. Seniors not so much lol (Yeah, break a hip) lol.

Yeah, there is the logic 5 or 7 that allows you to teach other people some skills, I believe? But that is just talking, like in literal teaching.
Now, when I talk about training, I talk more about the athletic train someone (you need athletic minimum at 5 for that, I think), or maybe martial arts sparring. Or just jam with them on some instruments.

Who wants to learn drums or sex from a text book? :))

That level of logic is also not a requirement for teachers in KW. Mechanically teaching (in school) is not supposed to work like that in game. They sit there, they get grades (for attendance, mood and homework done, mind you) but they learn zero applicable skills, outside of the afterschool activities (both in regular rabbithole school, as well as uni, where the role of the afterschool activities is more or less taken over by your painting, or brain study class and the like). Given, in KW school they do learn sex and exhibitionism. But by doing them, not by someone technically teaching them. The behaviour is more or less forced on them and that's how they learn and improve it: by doing. Best example: Them starting to masturbate, when the teacher does during sex class. It's not him teaching them in that moment. Charisma, for example, works differently. You do not learn it by doing. Only way you can learn it, is from practicing in front of the mirror or books. After you learned it, you can improve it by talking, holding speeches at the podium and what not. But you cannot learn the skill by doing those activities.

I just could have them sit for 2 hours and then auto slap a skill level up on the learning character. But where is the fun in that?

Which is what would make scouting so hard to implement. What will I do? Actively send them off to some forest or fishing hole? That's a ton of work.
I know it could be done. But it really isn't worth it.

EDIT: Now, thinking about it... what I could do, is make scouting reliant on a fire pit. Have them sit around it, cook marshmallows... and add some fishing level up or stuff to it. I could loosen that up by having one of them get up after an hour and pull a guitar and go full Kumbaya and such. I mean, I will think about it. Scouting also has its own leveling system, so I would also need to get the scouting badges implemented and I am not sure I am ready for that kind of horror.

I want to get the things in I am passionate about first. Once I did that, others might actually come easier.

Yeah I agree irl but not sure if it's a difference in a game. I think sim action they learn quicker than talking/reading? As to levels for ability to train skills, I think the level required is about the same but never paid much attention to it. Level 4 or 5 maybe. I'll have to do some experimental testing. I think there might be guides already that document it. The key is keeping with the kinky theme while expanding the modding else it's just upgrading vanilla sims to a higher level like NRAAS mods do. I've had teens gain exhibition skill by going to school naked but depends on how the skill is modded/coded. There's aspects that have been added that imo don't fit the kinky theme. I'm exploring all the different versions though to see which fits best to my liking. They all have their differences. I found that running my fav NRAAS mods with them though is complicated as I've had more experience with them than other mods. They were the 1st mods I used with Sims 3 to help eliminate the game's vanilla issues that were never fixed but even NRAAS mods sometimes fail. NRAAS Woohooer is definitely a mod that clashes with KW because KW uses a lot of code that it does but on a higher level (not as vanilla or PG). The problem I have is trying to figure out what KW implements that clashes with what NRAAS does. Without comparing the coding of each it's just trial n error. NRAAS mods like Overwatch, careers and woohooer are the biggest mods that are problematic with KW to a point. Not really sure about others unless NRAAS and KW have similar coding. I've read that placing certain mods in override instead of packages can eliminate clashes bc of priority but never tested it myself so not sure of any effects on other mods other than priority memory loading of code. Modding is always tricky without knowing exactly how it all works together.

That is what I am saying. You will gain exhibition skill, if you show yourself (partially or fully) naked and someone is around to witness it (or rather: Not busy doing anything else while you streak around the place, and can actually react to you doing it). That is how it's coded in KW. Again an instance of learning by doing. Or by having sex in public, which the KW school, as a community lot, is.

But, if you look at your skill list in a blank new game, once KW is loaded, you will notice that the skill already exists. Just with 0 points in it. Same as the sex skill. The vanilla skills do not. They do not exist in that list at 0 points. You have to learn them first, which mostly is also done by doing, but there are exceptions to it. Like that horrible charisma skill. And then you have those extra hidden or open skills, like ballet and scouting, which are just horrible to deal with.
Ballet has a hidden skill called "Dancing", just like any other dancing skill in the game. Adults can even learn it on the barre... they just do not get the moves. It's messy.

You send an adult on the barre for long enough, you might get a message about how they suddenly have dancing level 1 (I was never able to reproduce this 100%). That one has nothing to do with their ability to dance in front of a stereo or in a club, mind you. Those (dancing, smustle dance and club dance) are hidden skills entirely.
Children, however, will get a notification, how they just learned move X or Y instead, like the Plie, and can actually show those off.

I get what you're saying now. I think Maxis left skills unlearned hidden to keep the skill list clean. Yeah, using NRAAS for skills and traits is an awakening 😂. I've NEVER had a sim above child gain ballet skill from the barre EVER. 😳🤔 Maybe a mod helps them to? Idk. I wouldn't want to see a 100 skills listed with all 0s 🙄 I prefer they show after the basic is learned. I don't normally MAX SKILL my sims on every one available unless maybe that bored to death 😛😂😂😂😂

Ballet I will be fixing for anyone above child in my iteration of the highschoolsituation.cs as an afterschool activity.
It won't work outside of that, I am afraid. I won't be trying to reinvent the wheel. I just want it to work in KW High School. If it is disabled for you, that shit won't catch.

If you have downloaded animation packages for KW, they sometimes come in two variants (KW and OKW for some reason). Be sure to use the one that starts with OKW_.
So, for example, if your downloaded animation package is named OKW_L666_Animations.package, then you enter OKW_L666_Animations in the above field to add the animation. The ones starting with KW oftentimes react wonky and will result in a package not found error.
I can't explain you why. I am not an S3 animator. I think it has to do with what version of KW you are using (or if you are using woohooer and the like), but I am entirely unsure.

EDIT: Rereading your question, you are aware that this is an entire build version of Kinky World and not an animations package, yes?

Meaning, it is meant to replace your existing Kinky World mod installation.

2nd EDIT: I just noticed it says Woohoo instead of Sex in your KW settings. What build and version are you using? That gotta be old. :))
I cannot remember when the wording was changed, but that has to be before version 440. This here is version 500 (at least in the jvsmith branch).

I understood the KW package files were scripting and OKW animation? Maybe things have changed? 🤔 Yeah, sounds like they have old stuff but don't recall directly.

If there are singular animation packages included, they will need to check the downloaded files for any clues as to which ones are animations. I am not running this build, so I cannot say exactly.
Then they should be able to use the names of those packages in the settings menu. They might not work correctly on older versions, though. A lot of animations by now have been optimized to run on the newer builds, afaik.

Now you made me download the build, because I was curious XD. Not that many packages in there and the only one hinting at animations is this one: ONIKI_Anims.package

Now, simply adding those into an ancient KW build might not work as expected, is my guess, but worth a shot. I won't be testing it. Those are the default anims loaded by the mod, aka the 1 package you will see in the animations settings by default. Might probably work better, if you replace the old Oniki anims package with this one, instead of trying and loading it manually via settings. Then the new anims will get loaded by default. No need to mess around in the settings. Just an educated guess.
