Hi! So I was trying to convert over the Ancient Bone Bow from Nexon's Oblivion Armory (I've used a converted version in DA2 before. I love this bow!) And while I got it converted to object so I could import it into another dummy bow nif (so I can use it to make an esp with it available) and apparently this lovely bow just doesn't want to import properly. Or I'm having a case of dumbs. This is more likely.

 

The main trishape imports but for whatever reason the bow's eye trishape doesn't. I was wondering if someone could help me finish the nif file so I can get to making an esp out of it. Or at least tell me what I'm doing wrong. Either one is super cool. If I can figure out what's wrong then maybe I can finish importing a few other bows. Some of the cooler DAO/DA2 ones would be super awesome.

 

Anyways thanks! Here's the zip of what goes to the bow. I haven't bothered to put the textures in the appropriate files or the meshes yet. Derp.

so, what happened here? did it work?

 

im also working on a custom bow, i know how to mod static weapons and even armor with all stuff like skinning and boneweighting, but it seems those fucking bows are a science of its own...

you managed to make it work?

You can skin a bow like you would armour.

import a vanilla working bow (with bones and animation), align your bow with it.

Then use skin wrap modifier and then clean up the weights using the animation to help.

 

Then you export it like like normal and copy/paste the nitrishape into a working vanilla bow.nif (delete the mesh out of it first)

and that's pretty much it.

 

^This is assuming you're using max.

*sigh* ... ive found also a nice tutorial for max, problem is.... me --> blender-guy.

 

ive managed to modifiy an orcish bow with some skulls n stuff, then copied the weights from the regular orcish one, lastly imported the bones / skeleton from the regular bow that i set up for that like i did with armor, the resulting exported nif-file looks good, but the ck cant handle it. the files structure is different than the one from the normal bow...

 

im playing with the settings now. hopefully im gonna score that one today.

just taken care of it, IT WORKS! :)

 

actually the nitrishape isnt enough, also the niskin-stuff is neded, and some number adjustments in case the bone-value change... YAY! SCORE!!! :)

mainly i had also to change some setting for exporting the nif from blender, he didnt gimme a niskin-blog first... anyhow... *happyhappyjoyjoy* :)
