ZigNewton Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I don't know exactly what makes a standalone follower standalone, but after digging through the directories of several and not finding a skeleton of any kind, I originally fell under the impression that they just used whatever default skeleton you had installed. I was wrong. I noticed this when some followers had no belly node (for HentaiPregnancy etc), and copy/pasting my preferred skeleton in their directory has no effect (the three "Pretty Assassins" for example...) Where are these skeletons kept? How can I swap out whatever default skeleton they're using?
Groovtama Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Look up the skeleton path in the race the follower is using and replace the skeleton from that path. If the follower has a new race it may also have a path for the skeleton set that is not the path for the vanilla ones. You can find it also by browing through the files that come with the follwer skeleton.nif, skeleton_female.nif or beast equals may be something you should look for.
myuhinny Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Follower mods and other people that you add to the game their files are usually placed under character in meshes and textures just look for the folder with the followers name on it if there is one there should be but not always.
TheDriedFinger Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I believe that if you want the visual effects of pregnancy to show up, it's necessary to force the follower to use an edited mesh that supports that. How you'd go about doing that is my question.

As mentioned, none of the followers' directories had skeletons to be found, and in the case of Gilgoon's followers, for example, he used his own custom race to make them, but that race was not in the actors/character directory. He must've only retained the facegendata from that race of his. Pasting the skeletons into the companion folders also didn't help. I believe that if you want the visual effects of pregnancy to show up, it's necessary to force the follower to use an edited mesh that supports that. How you'd go about doing that is my question. So you're saying the mesh, not the skeleton, might be the problem in this case? Didn't think that would be the case, but I'll try swapping out the body meshes once I get a chance later, and report how it goes.
TheDriedFinger Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 The issue is both actually. The skeleton and the mesh must allow the visual effects. Essentially, it's the same issue trying to enable BBP animations for a custom NPC. The skeleton may be fine, but if the mesh does not support it, nothing will happen. Often follower mods don't add a custom skeleton, piggy-backing off of the already installed skeleton. Rather, they may add a custom mesh that may or may not offer support. The easiest way to demonstrate this is to take Aurora (a follower mod). The NPC uses whatever skeleton is installed, but has a mesh that doesn't support BBP. If you give her BBP clothing, you'll see the effects, because clothing can actually switch out the body mesh (as I understand). But, naked, you won't see any BBP. This is true for most follower mods.
eifrag Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 its the body mesh. All stand-alone follower mod I've DL'ed now support pregnancy by replacing their body mesh. I think its for compatibility why authors dont add skeleton for their followers some follower mods have their own skeleton. like selene kate follower its skeleton is inside the .bsa I had to extract and delete that cos it has fewer bones than what I use and its conflicting
ZigNewton Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 You guys were totally right about the meshes, thank you! This seems to work on all my standalone followers! Maybe one day I'll learn all that "weight painting" stuff for armor and clothing. ... or not >_>
