Complex Item Sorter Plugin for LoversLab Mods

Despite the name, Complex Item Sorter is not difficult to use! Only takes a few clicks.

While playing through with some mods off LL, I noticed that most weren't tagged, or had unimplemented tags.
What turned into a project to create FallUI categorization and a series of patches turned into a (novice) Complex Item Sorter Plugin.

Hard Requirements

FIS - NEW FallUI Item Sorter

FallUI Icon Library

Complex Item Sorter

Installation

  1. Install the required mods
  2. Install this mod via a Mod Manager (Vortex, MO2) - READ THE FOMOD
  3. Make sure your load order is correct
  4. Run Complex Item Sorter
  5. Make sure the generated ESP is at the bottom of your load order.

Changelog + Supported Mods - (Last Updated: 1/10/2024)

Spoiler

1/10/2024 - v1.1 - From Scratch
This update is basically a rework of the entire mod.

  • Generic tagging rules have been adding. This mod should now affect all LoversLab mods, though some mods may require specific tweaks.
  • Updated the plugin to require the FIS plugin to be enabled.
  • Fixed issue of mod creating new tabs in the Container menu instead of placing items in existing ones.

Newly Supported Mods:

  • Just Business v0.7.6
  • Problems of Survivor v1.2.1

Updated Mods:

  • Devious Devices - Updated to v2.0 RC9

I am open to suggestions for mods!
That being said... This has taken up the past week of my life, so I'm taking a break  Probably going to not touch this for a week.

Taking a brief look in xEdit, there's some problems I found (I'm pretty sure I can make the patches/fix most of em, but I do need help on parts I haven't figured out):

list of stuff from the sex sorter esps (I don't have all the sex sorter ESPs, so I can't list the ones I don't have):

the Devious Devices seems to not use the RC9 version (latest version of DD that I know of), as there's key information missing, not just from the armors. (not to mention some stuff has a weight of 0 that otherwise would have weight)

The family planning one needs a patch to cover changes the wasteland offspring covers for those items. (1 ingestible, and the rest in armors) (possibly just overwrite in Wasteland Offspring sex sorter)

The real handcuffs one needs a patch for the DD servitron compatibility patch.

Wasteland Dairy one needs a fix to make certain items use slot 57, instead of slot 60, the 2nd of which already belongs to the Pip-boy, and needs a patch to cover changes the wasteland offspring covers for those items (just add it to Wasteland Offspring sex sorter to cover the patch for Wasteland Offspring)

Wasteland Offspring needs to be fixed so the model points to something existing, I made a patch for the normal one here.

As for the fallui item sorter addon: I haven't even tried it, and the container in the screenshot looks horrendous.

the part I circled in red only show up if you tried to add normal categories instead of subcategories (in the spoiler):

Spoiler

Screenshot2024-01-02211729.png.a2e39ea1917b75b9c998c6b442f86ed4.png

The true test for categories in the fallui item sorter addon is if you can trade with a trader without crashing, as normal containers are more lenient (I used Trashcan Carla for my previous tests, but I suppose any trader would work).

I can fix everything except instance naming rules (cause I need to learn more about em, assuming they r broken at all), and need input on the FIS SexSorterCat.xml file so I know if those needed to be their own groups, or be sub-groups of existing groups (whether it be always visible along the top or a category of something existing (like how throwables like grenades are a sub-group of weapons)

For me the cis_sexsort plugin is complaining about missing sourcefiles, but only for real handcuffs.

Realhandcuffs.esp has LO prefix 27 for me, the AWKCR patch has FE, but somehow xEdit sees 1B (which is the eyes of beauty for me).

having a problem where applying the loverslab patch removes the effects of the weightless item patch.

Also Problems of Survivor might be a good candidate to patch.

I'm using Horizon which isn't compatible with the FallUI Item Sorter, but is still compatible with the other FallUI mods. If I'm not using the item Sorter and the Icon Library, will this mod provide no functionality?

I'm asking because I'm not sure if it is still worth using this mod for the changes to the item names.

Most likely this mod won't help but change item names to have stuff like [Restraint] in front of the name, so it likely won't help.

Ok, thanks. I'm guessing that putting the [tag] in front of item names won't be enough, it needs the Item Sorter to actually recognize the name changes and reorganize the inventory.

Found out that the complex sorter can screw up if the sex sorter esps are in the load order, the esps are probably not even needed if the complex sorter addon is correctly made. (with exception for wasteland dairy, as that one adds keywords for instance naming, though it may not be needed as the generated sorter ends up adding it's own version of the keywords)

Apologies for the delay everyone, was out of town.
I'm working on a patch for everything, including making it so the sorter has a 'default' mode to work on other mods and not just the ones I've listed.
I've already made some progress but can't say exactly when it would be finished, as it's rewriting a lot of it.

Specific replies:
@ptmc2112 thanks for the info, I'll work those into the next patches. I will say, your link in relation to the Wasteland Offspring patch you made points to an irrelevant comment.

@Langmans Not sure what would be causing that. I'll do a dive into it, but from a quick initial search doesn't show documentation

@RenFL2 Can't say why weightless item patch wouldn't work. I'll take a look, see if there's any incompatibilities in what I wrote. If you can post your logs in a spoiler, that would be great.
@Corsec Unfortunately, as it stands, this mod is dependent on New FallUI Item Sorter and the FallUI Icon Library. I may implement DEF_UI functionality in the future but it's low on the priority list.
@Magos567 Thank you! Appreciate the kind words!

I installed the empty esp file from complex item sorter, that was the issue. As soon as I removed it the warnings were no longer in the log. No idea why m8r added it as a download.

So you don't have to do anything regarding that issue ?

I get the same errors (over 9000) all referencing tagindents in FIS2 (happens when I disable all the sorter files, and just run the complex sorter)

Do you have both FallUI Icon Library installed in your mod manager + the 'FIS (New FallUI Item Sorter)' plugin enabled in CIS?

That's the only way I'm able to replicate your issue, is by disabling one of those.

switching to complex sorter 1.12.0 in FO4Edit 4.1.5 results in it working fine.

@RenFL2which versions of complex sorter and FO4Edit were you using?

@Furglitch you can try adding in the following line to the [Plugin] section of CISSexSort.ini in the plugins folder which will prevent anyone from enabling the loverlab sort with the "FIS (NEW FallUI Item Sorter)" plugin unchecked:
requiredPlugins = cpp_fisItemSorter

This line (also put in [Plugin] of CISSexSort.ini in the plugins folder) will prevent checking if it can't find the icon library used for the sex sorter (at least, it's what I assume the swf is for) and if the tag configuration and category configuration files can't be found:

requiredDataFiles = Interface\SexSorterIco.swf + Interface\ItemSorter\FIS\TagConfiguration.Addons\SexSorterTag.xml + Interface\ItemSorter\FIS\Categories.Addons\SexSorterCat.xml

Both of the mentioned lines above result in this, when clicking on the ? in the script window:

No, you don't need any of the ESPs if you pick complex sorter, as it's meant to be used with the mod it links.

There's a way in the fomod to skip the ESP selection if the Complex Item Sorter is used, but I don't know it.

On another note, @Furglitch I finally updated the categories to work properly in containers and even updated the pip-boy code, the commentary in the file includes your old code. I based the new code off this article on the FIS new fallui item sorter mod, which tells you how to add a subcategory for both pip-boy and containers/traders

SexSorterCat.xml

One more thing, I have found that in the rules for the complex sorter, the order within sections matters on what takes priority.

One example is in Wasteland Offspring, there's an ingestible called "Wolf DNA Implanter" with EditorID called DLC03_IVF_Implant_Wolf

2 lines affect it one called:

"FULL - Name" contains DNA=DNA

and another called:

EDID contains Implant=Fertility

Since the DNA line is above the Implant one, it takes priority, and the implant line is ignored for that record.

I hope it helps.

  • Guest changed the title to Complex Item Sorter Plugin for LoversLab Mods
Posted (edited)

With v1.1 comes a great series of changes! Namely:

  • Generic tagging rules! Now this mod will affect all other mods! Not just the ones listed in the 'supported' section. That is now for mods with specific tweaks in the sorter plugin.
  • To reflect the requirement of FIS, the plugin will be disabled in Complex Item Sorter if FIS or it's plugin are missing/disabled.
  • Fixed the container menu having newly added tabs for new tags, instead of placing items into existing tabs.
  • For the sake of simplicity and stability, this mod will no longer provide pre-generated ESPs. Complex Item Sorter is simple to use, just follow M8r's Quick Start Guide on the mod page.
  • A reduction in file size! 1350 KB -> 32 KB

@Furglitch the main reason in my version of the containers and pipboy, I moved the sex_genes to AID in both pip-boy and containers, is if you use the "all" section, all alch items show up, even if the subcategory that item is in is set to misc, which made it a bit confusing, since the game by default puts all alch items in AID, regardless of source.

I also moved the sex_fluids to con_aid_food because it mainly contained food items you could eat.

found another bug, for some reason, perhaps instead of being specific to the mods, it somehow made what used to be settings holotapes like the holotape added by SKK random Encounter Manager to be normal holotapes instead of settings, like it was supposed to be. I know because it had [Settings] already in the name, and it got replaced with [Holotape] because of the rules in CISSexSort.ini. That is just one of many examples where holotapes meant to hold mod settings end up with the normal holotape icon with the global rules in the CISSexSort file.

reverting made it work better.

Traveling right now and didn't have internet for a couple of days, so only just saw your questions. I should have the latest Complex Sorter, but I might not have the latest FO4Edit. Should have the other requirements. Will try the new update and updated FO4Edit when I can, prob next week.

Looks to be working fine now. Thanks for your hard work.

Needs a wayto handle the Instance Naming Rules for Real Handcuffs, otherwise you get stuff like this (note the "throbbing" part that effectively stops the FIS from recognizing the [Restraint] tag):

It would be better to be handled like the "Light" part is for the leather armor. there is a plugin for INNR rules that handles that stuff for vanilla you could probably look at for guidance.
