Hello,

I'm a novice at modding. I'm attempting to port two different versions of Asuka's hair from SF x TK and from TTT2 into Skyrim. These two different approaches illustrates two different hairs. I will present two different cases and I would like for anyone with knowledge to help me correct and get it working. So far, I have been able to get the SF x TK model into Skyrim. Using the method illustrated here, I tried to port these hairs into Skyrim. the files that I used to do this were acquired from devianart as XNALara models.

Well, the SF x TK models I had much better luck with; I was able to get it to show up in game with the correct meshes and textures. But it suffers from a significant decrease in hair quality; the hair did not show the detail as the original hair. To sum this up, this screenshot will show what's wrong with the hair. I am using the custom Ningheim race from the nexus.

what settings under nifskope are required? or how do I go about making the texture look correct? And do you think it is too big or should I scale it down a bit (had to manually position and size the hair to the head). I will be providing the necessary files below. Thank you.

Now, the TTT2 version of the hair is much more complex because not only does it feature higher resolution textures, the hair mesh consists of three parts (the scalp and two portions of the hair). Since I don't know how to edit or create textures, as these meshes are uv mapped to each specific map coordinates I can't just piece together all three diffuse maps together and hope they work (Or can they?). Otherwise, I could have combined all three meshes and textures so that they do display in game correctly. Now, I am able to display them but only the scalp part of the hair shows up.

This is what happens in game:

What it should look like:

I don't know what I can do to make it appear properly. And I prefer the TTT2 version to work instead, because it features higher resolution textures more in line with the realism of Skyrim. And the two meshes are different, so I can't exactly use the SFxTK mesh with TTT2 textures.

The tools I used:

Creation Kit

NifSkope

3dsmax 2012 with nif plugin

Blender 2.49b

XNALara

Files are attached below.

The first hair "asuka" has poor diffuse textures, and a flat normal map. You might get a better look if you edit the normal map...

The second "asukahd" shows up in game like that because its not 1 NiTriShape. you will have to combine all of the meshes in too one.

Then edit the uvs so they are not overlapping with each other, and then combine/edit the textures to match the new uv layout.

...Welcome to modding, its all fun.. really, it is...

Meshes don't have to be combined. Any additional meshes can be setup as extra parts in the ck and added to a hairstyle.

...Really, your joking... Well that will make doing the 2nd one easier...

Hey guys,

Thanks for your replies. I will try what Endiness suggested. Create separate meshes for each and add them as extra parts under creation kit. Maybe that will work. If not, I'll have to learn to or someone could help me remap those textures. combining the meshes seems easy enough, but the textures do give me pause. I'll post back with my efforts.

Tried it. shows up in game but with purple textures (missing texture) I was sure that the texture path was correct but it showed up like that. If you need those files, I will post those too. Thank you all.

Ah! I was able to catch that AND yes by golly I did change that to .tga and the correct texture names under nifskope and the end result is brilliant, but transparent. Thank you y'all. Now it'll be great if you show me how to reduce transparency and I think it'll be as good as finished. Now, I'm trying to see if I can fix it in the meanwhile. I've also tried renaming textures using the old files and it didn't work, so looks like Endiness's method is the way to go. I"ll get back to you after I tried it again.

Actually, problem is, sometimes it switches itself to the extra part and in addition to transparency gives it a pretty hilarious and unintentional effect. Screenshots soon. If you could simply point me to a uv map tutorial or if someone could do it for me that could be great. Thank you all!

That's what I did, but to strange results; I got transparent hair and the two hair parts that won't stick together; when I equip one hair, it turns itself into its extra part!
