[SOLVED] Any way of previewing animation files without having to install a whole animation rig?

I got a bunch of hkx files off a SLAL pack which I want to preview without having to install an animation rig like Blender, Maya, etc. Is there any small program that would let me do it? I just want to view the animation, not edit it.

Nifscope

Nope. Says it can't open the file. No further details. I'm using version 2.0 dev7 which seems to be the latest version, at least according to github page.

since then I might as well install Blender or something

Using Blender to view/Edit existing animations is actually highly impractical/near impossible.
And having HavokContentTools installed somewhere on your PC is a low price. Its small and you will quickly forget you even have it.

Besides, EVERYHING which is capable of meaningful interaction with HKX files requires the Content tools.

That's exactly one of the issues. My system is 11 years old, never reinstalled, (bar slapping Win10 update on top 2 years ago) and I don't want to add anything that I absolutely don't need at this point and will likely forget. Imagine how my registry looks now after years of updates slapped on top of other updates and patches to patches and what not. I have a shitload of stuff and lose files I don't even know origin or purpose of anymore, littering every single system directory.

Which is beside the point, since HCT is apparently discontinued and I don't want a whole modern Havok installation. This is not something critical, if there is no single app that would let me preview animations, I'll pass entirely.

I appreciate your attempts to help though, thank you.

Okay, and what then? What do I do with those files? I want to view the animation as is, not a bunch of text strings which tell me nothing. Can Nifscope do that after conversion? I only ever used it to change armor slots and I have no idea about any other use of this program.

It can't. At least I haven't found one. There are sites where you can get it from, but none of those is "official". The question of legality then depends on specific laws in your country.

Thx for response.

btw: by "legal" I meant more "a source which is trustworthy to actually download anything from it" ;)  I'm too old for warez sites.

That's like saying "I'm too old to watch the telly".

You have no idea how (accidentally?) true that is - no telly near me for years. C'mon, it's 21century - no time left for medieval entertainment.

Medieval entertainment involved watching public executions on a city square.

It wasn't the direction I was going but, don't get me wrong, somehow that sounds like the definition of medieval amusement. One group of folks acts worse than animals by doing shit, while the other treats this like entertainment, and watch solely due to cruelty involved; without any valid ethical or political excuse.
