lidowxxx
Okay, I think it's time for me to vent some of my frustrations, every time I download a new mod and load up my NMM, I find at least 5-6 mods that are outdated and need updating, while I do appreciate mod authors keep developing and supporting their mods, but it has become more of a labor than pleasure, every time I have to load the their mod pages and read the descriptions, latest comments and change logs, then download and install the mod, followed by running BOSS. And I am not even running a huge number of mods, currently only 90+, I can only imagine the annoyance of this for those who has over 200 mods running, it's just I find myself spending more and more time maintaining, updating, troubleshooting the mods, less and less time spent actually playing the game. So anyone else gets annoyed by this? How often do you update your mods? Link to comment
Koko.Hekmatyar
I have close to 200 and it doesn't bother me one bit. I actually enjoy that the authors keep updating their mods on a regular basis sure I have to uninstall/reinstall a lot but that is the price one pays for playing a modded game. Link to comment
Uno
You're wrong op. Not updated mods are the real irritating and unethical ones. Link to comment
lidowxxx
No, you got me wrong, dude, as I said I appreciate mod authors updating their mods to get rid of bugs, problems, it's just the whole process of reading, downloading, updating can be tiresome sometimes, especially when you got lots of mods installed. Spyder Arachnid
I usually do a fresh reinstall of Skyrim every 4-6 months. Take that time to download all the updates to my mods as well. It gets tedious sure, but in the end, it's all worth it to make sure I have the latest versions running and the old versions didn't leave behind any unwanted files. Gives me a chance to go through a lot of my non-essential mods and clean them out. I'm always downloading tons of mods all the time just for screenshots or quick tests. So I take that time to delete all the stuff I never use and clean everything up. But give it time. Eventually Skyrim will become like Oblivion. Download your mods, and never have to worry about updates again cause they are finished. Link to comment
...0...
I have periods i updated or get some new mods everyday, if it realy improve or enhance my game. Few months ago i constsantly getting new mods or remove mods updating and it almost kind addiction hehe. And yes after while it started to getting on my nerves. For example i got 600+ hairs do i need more or update HELL NO lol enough is enough. Same go for ENB every bloody week he update to newer version well my game looks GREAT and i have around 40-50 fps which is fine no framerate drops stutter or many CTD only sometimes but thats becouse of a follower mod i can live with. Veladarius
I typically only update mods if they fix a major problem, improves their performance or if features are added that I want. If my game is working ok then I don't worry about updates too much. The ones that can be a pain when updating are mods that others are dependent on. I am currently holding off on updating SexLab until the majority of the mods I use with it have been updated. Link to comment
HeavyDude
No, you got me wrong, dude, as I said I appreciate mod authors updating their mods to get rid of bugs, problems, it's just the whole process of reading, downloading, updating can be tiresome sometimes, especially when you got lots of mods installed. That's why i love moders that have changelogs (good, cohesive, understandable ones), it makes it much easier to figure out WHY and WHAT I'm updating, or sometimes if i even have to update at all. Kaz Aanh
I believe there is an option to disable auto-updating. Personally I preffer to manually check what has changed in mods and sometimes "older versions" are better than newer. Maybe thats becouse I'm not running much of mods ( 70 currently ). cornbreadtm
If you have 200+ mods like me you'll love updates. It can be so hard to figure out whats causing a problem, so that if a mod updates and fixes it you just give that big sigh of relieve and can get back to it. Seriously though...You're pretty much bitching about free health care... and its annoying. Link to comment
winny257
I update only textures of bodies and landscapes, nothing more! for I have found that the updated version is not much better than the first version.an example: AP first version worked without further aid, then someone FNIS has developed and hold all other modder fixed that!they are no longer in a position to create their own works. german \ deutsch ! ich aktualisiere nur texturen an körpern und landschaften , weiter nichts ! denn ich habe festgestellt daß die aktualisierte version nicht viel besser als die erste version ist .ein beispiel : AP erste version funktionierte ohne weitere hilfsmittel , dann hat jemand FNIS entwickelt und schon halten alle anderen modder daran fest !sie sind nicht mehr in der lage eigene werke zu erschaffen . johnnyboy88
You know... Just because there's an update to something doesn't mean you have to download and install it right away. It's not like it's an anti-virus definition. lol A lot of times updates are minor and fix things you might not have even noticed. Sometimes they change things and you don't want the change. Sometimes it introduces new issues and/or has unintended side effects. If the update rate is too fast for you don't worry about it. You don't HAVE to update. But some people like updating and don't mind dealing with compatibility and stability issues from untested updates. Some people like being on the bleeding edge and dealing with updating all the time. But for you to complain about it is just silly. Link to comment

I have 256 mods installed, my game is 59 GB in size and I have no problems, then I installed a few updates and the problems already started to. why are there so many people here who ask for help when supposedly clean out all the updates fail? I do not think you can answer me that. german \ deutsch ! wieso ist es dumm ? ich habe 256 mods installiert , mein spiel ist 59 GB groß und ich habe keine probleme , dann installierte ich ein paar updates und schon fingen die probleme an . warum gibt es so viele menschen die hier um hilfe bitten , wenn angeblich die updates alle fehler ausräumen ? ich glaube nicht das du mir daß beantworten kannst . johnnyboy88
It's not like these mods have a professional Q/A team testing them out before release. In most cases it's one individual who makes it and gets it to work for themselves with their particular mod list. Consider yourself lucky if they test it with other mods they don't even use. When a mod gets updated with a new version, consider it a beta version and expect bugs. If everything was working fine before the update and you have problems after supposedly removing the update. Then obviously the update wasn't removed properly. Finally. It's like I said. You don't have to update. If everything is working fine before you update, wait until some others have tried it out. Wait and see if anyone else reports any bugs. And before you update, decide if the update provides anything useful to you. If it provides something worth the possibility of incompatibility with something else. Link to comment
