It use to be the occasional ctd but, recently this has been happening a lot and I can't find any information about this.

Only happens to bethesda games. Fallout 4 and Skyrim SE.

I don't know if my pc specs are important but here it is.

Asus TUF B550-PLUS
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core
16gb ram (2x8)
Radeon RX 480 8gb

I  would bet on a critical overheating.

Check you CPU/GPU coolers and radiators. Make sure the fans are spinning properly,  and the heat sinks are not clogged.

Could be overheating as others have said.  Could also be power supply.

What CPU cooler are you using and what brand / model / wattage power supply do you have?

You can monitor your temperatures and fan speeds with a utility like https://openhardwaremonitor.org/

I messed up again. I've been trying to find the package it came in.

Cooler master Hyper 212 black rgb 120mm

I wonder if maybe I should reapply new thermal paste.

Maybe, but I suggest running a hardware monitor then entering the game.  Periodically alt-tab and look at the temperatures.  This would help narrow things down.

It appears that I solved my problem. I put fresh thermal paste on my cpu and everything is running a lot better.

You guys were right, it was a heat issue.
