rgeddie123456
So currently, I play on High Settings with a good FPS, it's decent and I have nothing to complain about. The problem is that if I install and enable 2K - Textures in my game, my FSP goes way way down. I'd love to play a beautiful game with better textures but my FPS sucks. I can play with Low Settings tho Low Settings + 2 K Textures (full, not lite) = Good gameplay I also have the original High Settings without the 2K Textures, which results in good gameplay. So Im having a hard time choosing here : which is better? Low Settings + 2 K Textures (full, not lite) = Good gameplay High Settings OR should I try with LITE ? Maybe High Settings + 2K textures ( lite ) = Good gameplay ???? (havent tested this yet) so what do you guys think I should do? Link to comment
Veladarius
What do you have system wise? Do you have Anti-Aliasing turned on or are running any sort of ENB? Link to comment
rgeddie123456
Well, my RAM is 8 GB, I have heard from other people that it's a good number ( is there something that is better ?? ) My processor is Intel R, i-7, I think it's also good ( is there something that is better ?? ) I dunno about my graphics card, how can I check it? Edit - I also plan to install SMIM and Climates of Tameriel You think it would be nice to play on Low Settings with all these installed? Link to comment
winny257
the graphics card is of paramount importance, it is decisive whether your game is going well, or if you have to reset the settings to minimum. if you still would install ENB, would then come out even less fps. with a middle class grafhikkarte "ati radeon hd 6870" you can "4K - Textures" use and make your settings to maximum! german \ deutsch ! die grafikkarte ist von herausragender wichtigkeit , sie ist mitentscheidend ob dein spiel gut läuft , oder ob du die einstellungen auf minimal zurücksetzen mußt . wenn du dann noch ENB installieren würdest , würden dann noch weniger fps herauskommen . mit einer mittelklasse grafhikkarte " ati radeon hd 6870 " kannst du "4K - Texturen" verwenden und deine einstellungen auf maximum stellen ! rgeddie123456
Well I just checked and I have a Radeon HD 6770M, memory is 726 mb Anyone thinks I can install 2K textures, climate and play with Medium settings? I have a laptop Link to comment
CGi
if you play with textures set to medium as well, then there's no reason to install an HD texture pack. With what you got, max texture size should be 1024, as 2048 will crash your game in areas, with many different textures (Riften f.e.). rgeddie123456
Umm. . . what do you mean "if I play with textures" ? I have 2K textures uninstalled, I dont play with them I play with the Default High Settings Im thinking of Installing Climates of Tameriel and play with High Settings and if that doesnt work, I will change to Medium Link to comment
CGi
You said, you are playing on medium settings.Textures >1024 make only sense if you play with the textures set to high. But after all: Don't install any hi-res textures (i would even avoid the official ones), as you got only very low graphic ram and for vanilla Skyrim + HiRes DLC, 1GB of graphic ram is recommended. if you want to play with HD2K, get a graphic card with at least 2GB of ram. You need spare free memory, to avoid stuttering from reloads. CoT should have almost no impact, as it adds no new textures or meshes. it changes and adds imagespace modifiers. Link to comment
rgeddie123456
Okay, thanks for the help guys Now, if I am gonna buy a laptop in the future, I will buy one with a high graphics card. An ideal laptop would be i-7 Processor 8 GB Ram and 2 GB Graphics card What else am I missing? Link to comment
Groovtama
Why buying a laptop for gaming and not a desktop? you get more power more cheaper. Link to comment
Veladarius
i-7 isn't needed for Skyrim, it needs a strong graphics card with a lot of memory. I have an i-5 2600K and I hit 50% CPU usage at most (thats with as many multi-thread ini entries as I can find stuffed in). Graphics card wise I had an overclocked 4950 (damn thing was a space heater, nice in the winter though) and I went to a 7850 and my performance doubled with the same processor. While laptop and desktop graphics chips are labeled the same the mobile versions in laptops are far less powerful. Link to comment

I agree. you have a laptop! why not have a PC, that would be far more beneficial. the possibilities would be far higher, and at the end of the PC also pays off. german \ deutsch ! ich stimme zu . du hast einen laptop ! warum keinen PC , das wäre deutlich vorteilhafter . die möglichkeiten wären weit aus höher und am ende zahlt sich der PC auch aus .
