frenchstud Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I recently got a new laptop featuring a 3070 GPU, and I expected it to run Skyrim with ENB smoothly. However, when I play with the Re-Engaged ENB, the frame rate occasionally drops from around 60 to as low as 20 FPS every couple of minutes, while the laptop's surface heats up. I would appreciate any suggestions for improving the performance. I started up a new game after previously uninstalling Skyrim with a few mods, so the ENB is the only factor. I'm wondering if insufficient space in the C drive could be causing the issue? My laptop initially had only a single C drive (350GB) and no D drive. I used software to create a D drive, allocating 200GB to it from the C drive, and installed the game on this new partition. However, there were still 90GB empty space available in the C drive at that time, so this may not be the cause of the problem. my hardwares:

After how many hours of playing does the FPS drop? Sounds to me as if your Laptop needs more cooling if the graphic card works at full capacity. If it's not the graphic card it might be just your game setup. If your setup struggled with fps drops before, the new graphic card might not be able to compensate for game setup related issues. 2 hours ago, frenchstud said: I'm wondering if insufficient space No. If your System would run out of virtual memory Skyrim would just CTD or freeze. You're probably hitting bandwidth max with an ENB, so if you've turned on ambient occlusion, any kind of AA and cloud shadows, and IBL (What boris calls ImageBasedLighting, which is in fact indirect bounce lighting), you shouldn't.

No. If your System would run out of virtual memory Skyrim would just CTD or freeze. The first drop happens arround 10 mins into the game, even the fan working at full speed wouldn't help. I would try to improve my in-game enb setup to see if it's better.

I did turn off occlusion and AA in the skse launcher. Would untoggle cloud shadow and ibl to see if it's better
