mark12398789 Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Error message screenshot attached. I did a search for posts about this problem and based on one post, I tried installing something called "SKSE ini pre-download for lazy users" (link below) but that did not resolve the error. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51038?tab=files&file_id=1000271542&nmm=1 I am new to modding and am wondering if anyone has any advice on how to resolve this error? BACKGROUND INFORMATION I am using the Vortex 1.8.4 mod manager, Windows10, Skyrim SE via Steam. I have SKSE64 v2.2.3 installed in Vortex. I have the Flower Girls mod installed, it seems to work properly and I think it uses SKSE. Thanks much for any insights anyone may have!
Gh0sTG0 Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 (edited) Put here screenshoot of what you are pressing to start the game, please. You need to start the game from skse64_loader.exe, not from steam, SkyrimSE.exe or SkyrimSELauncher.exe. Not sure, maybe you need to start the game with clicking on skse64_loader in vortex. PS am I correct that you meant Schlongs of Skyrim mod? For AE try to delete one you install and use this one: https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/23433-schlongs-of-skyrim-ae-no-dll-version/ Edited June 2, 2023 by Gh0sTG0

Follow the guide in the SE section (this is the LE section).

I tried launching skse64_loader.exe and got the attached error message (can't find skyrimSE.exe) I found skyrimSE.exe at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\skrimSE.exe, so it appears that SKSE64loader.exe just doesn't know where to look. I tried reinstalling SKSE64 via Vortex and there was not a configuration screen. I don't see config files in the SKS64 folder though I might not know what to look for as I'm very new to mods. Do you think this issue is a question better for the Vortex forums? Thanks much for any advice you can offer.

I am actually running AE though, but didn't see an AE forum. Should AE posts also go in the SE forum?

Should AE posts also go in the SE forum? yeah SE/AE are grouped together As to your issue SKSE needs installing in the same place as the skyrimSE.exe file and running from there, it looks like your trying to run it from the vortex staging folder which is incorrect go \Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition and you should have skse64_loader.exe in that folder (assuming you've deployed in vortex) You can make a shortcut to it and stick it on your desktop (or where ever you like) but the one that needs running is always the one in the same place as the skyrimSE.exe file Edited June 3, 2023 by pinky6225

(I no longer get the SKSE not found error). I get a different error now, but I'll post to the correct forum for that if I can't figure it out and I may switch to Mod Organizer first (for other reasons) and see where I'm at then. Question on skse64_loader.exe though - both SOS and Flower Girls list SKSE as a requirement, but I was able to get Flower Girls to work launching Skyrim from Steam (I did not get an SKSE not found error and all mod features appear to work). Do you have any idea why that would be? (just technically curious) Should I launch skse64_loader.exe for all mods that require SKSE or is that only for some? Thanks again for your help! I've never actually used Flower Girls tbh but assuming its this - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/5941 It doesn't list SKSE as a requirement so i'd suggest its more one of the requirements for flowergirls that needs SKSE to work correctly (maybe the skeleton XPMSSE - although that is again prolly more to get some of the added features to work rather than the skeleton itself) That said yes you should launch via the skse64 loader all the time as your eventually going to install something that needs the features of SKSE to work correctly and there isn't really a downside to launching it like that instead of via steam If you are going to move to mod organiser the thing to remember with that is that you need to launch SKSE (and other stuff like FNIS) from within mod organise, while i don't use it myself (happy with vortex) i've seen no end of threads where peeps have had issues as they haven't launched the tools from within mod organiser

I misstated before that Flower Girls requires SKSE. Flower Girls requires XP32 and XP32 required SKSE. In any event, I'll just launch via skse loader moving forward as you suggest. I decided to stick with Vortex for now. I like it for the most part but was having trouble getting the Modwat.ch extension installed. I got that resolved (had to manually install Vortex showcase) and now the last (hopefully!) obstacle appears to be creating a Modwat.ch username and password. I read the Modwatch for Vortex extension docs and it had great info on what buttons to click etc, but just said, go get a Modwatch username and password. The Modwat.ch website doesn't seem to have a way to register and talks about creating a username/password in the context of installing their uploader, which I'm not sure if I should do since I installed the Modwatch extension. Any ideas on this one? Thanks for all your help!

Afraid not as i don't use that extension, reading about it - it seems to be to create a collection/make up for vortex not having an easily shareable list of mods used so i'd think the username would be whatever you choose to upload as

Based on your suggestion I tried picking a username/password and entering that after clicking the upload button and it worked. I can now generate and share a mod list. Thanks so much for your help!
