At some point in the past day or two, something overwrote all my enemies with acquaintance status. (possibly Defeat related or some combat or something idk)

 

Is punting back to an earlier save my only recourse, or am I missing some obvious console command fix or something? It's not worth a major debug, as other player instances work fine (so it's not some mod issue, at least not a routine error), but if there's an obvious solution (a less well known "reset all enemies to original hate states" console command) that precludes me loosing the time/leveling I spent, and one I'm overlooking, a nudge would be helpful.

 

I *did try most of the normal toggles tcia, tscr, tdetect, etc.

 

And...now that I think of it, wth kind of script goes and rewrites all the relationship ranks anyway? (<<< purely rhetorical and just me ranting)

What I'd do in this case is load my loadorder as-is in xEdit and write a script to dump a bat with which to test faction membership of all factions in the game. Inspect the ones with a value of 0 or higher and faction relationships that would make enemies friendly. Someone that actually likes pascal would do some of that the other way around - only dump viable factions instead of testing all.

I used faction spy as well as console commands. Found nothing out of the ordinary. 

 

It *was apparently Defeat, btw. I went on a hunch and initiated a fight with one of my new "acquaintances" (could still do that much) and immediately surrendered, then used the Defeat cleanup function and all is well. A bit got hung in a previous stun/knockout when some enemy faction attacked my aggressors.

Oh lord, it's a phreaking game. And when a half dozen prowling falmer or a trio of leveled witches hone in on you, no amount of passing the bong and chanting hari hari rama  is going to solve the immediate situation.
