I'm not sure what it is about the lewd game industry, but almost all crowdfunded games are a scam. I funded 2 normal games and they turned out great! No bullshit. Money spent on game dev and delivered a finished product. But NSFW games? Bullshit. Every single one of them.

 

Lets take some bets: Which comes out first? Silksong or Monster Girl Island? GTA6 or Operation Lovecraft? Elder Scrolls VI or Mahou Arms? Zelda for Switch 2 or this mod?

 

It makes sense on paper. Why finish a game and charge people once when you can milk morons for years and make infinite money? Actual game devs would be held accountable and never get away with it, but idiots keep letting these people off with no consequence. I blame the coomers for this trend. If they would stop giving them money, this wouldn't happen. But everyone thinks with their dick and not their head unfortunately...

You know, the mod is making progress. It's the fact that the game is so large that there's so much to change. And as far as I understand it, a project like the one in progress for totk isn't by any means a small and simple one. Not to mention that games and mods have bugs. Especially the bigger ones. People be getting mad at devs for not being faster with game releases, but they'll be just as, if not, more mad if an unfinished game released. And as I always say, if you still wanna complain about it, why not learn to do it yourself and prove me wrong?

Sure, but that's a different situation than what I'm talking about. Bethesda doesn't crowd fund their games for 10 years, taking people's money and giving them nothing in return, just to back out at the end and never finish. They fund their own game and release it. Is it the same shit over and over and idiots still buy it? Of course. But at least they make a game in the end.

The entirety of Game Banana's TotK section is proof well enough, already containing everything from jokey look at this hacks to rather serious overhauls.

I mean, I follow a lot of modding stuff. Especially with BotW and TotK. But many of the big mods I've played have taken a considerable amount of time to develop, so the impatience of some ppl in this thread makes me want to comment on that fact.

I don't think it's the amount of time it's taking that rubs people the wrong way. It's crowdfunding the project for almost 2 years with nothing to show for it but some pictures and videos. There is no product. The plug could be pulled at any moment and all of that money will have been wasted.

 

At least with the Linkle mod or the BotW costumes, they were crowdfunded but posted piece by piece, so you at least had a tangible product for the money you spent. Most people would have been happy with a simple Zelda mod to start and some occasional costumes being dropped here and there as time goes on. Literally anything but a "trust me guys!".

 

To be clear, I was subbed to Sockpoppet for two years while he was making Linkle costumes. Money well spent! But I'll be damned if I sub to this project for 2 years just to see pictures of the devs playing the mod.

That's what I've been saying, on BotW at least we had a simple nude Linkle mod with some outfits here and there...

TotK? Nah it's constantly "Will be releasing soon, trust us!" for the last few years. I'm pretty certain I heard it was supposed to release LAST summer, and then THIS summer when this year hit...it's never coming out at this point and I'm shocked Nintendo hasn't found and shut down his patreon at this point for literally making money off a Nintendo game. Honestly gotten to the point where I was actually hoping this would happen already. lol

Man, if any of you don’t like the vision we have or how long it’s taking, I assume you know that you can just not play it or follow along with our development, or play it when it releases.

 

the people who support on patreon know they’re not getting any specific product for their support, I’ve told people here to just follow dev on Kemono if they want to see the updates without supporting.

 

We’ve stated to them and everyone everywhere that the mod is gonna be free when it releases.

 

It’s been an absolutely monumental amount of work to do what we were able to do so far.

 

Respectfully, no other project has come close to the scope of what we managed to do, and even though many of the other character replacer projects fizzled out or released incomplete versions because their devs gave up, they weren’t done either despite being in dev with bigger teams than we have and doing less impressive work.

 

we had to build everything ground up and model new outfits for every single sexy alteration.

why are we taking so long?

I think a better question is why the fuck The Shattered Prophecy took so long when they only had to add in the new outfits for the new costumes?

I know the answer is because this game is complicated as fuck to mod and a lot of things needed to be solved for to make things work.

 

but that project stopped incomplete despite being infinitely less complicated or comprehensive as what we were working on and have done.

 

one example, pretty sure TSP only turns the link model into Zelda.

ours replaces Link with the Zelda character and model details.

why does that matter?

it makes it so that the Player Zelda is actually Zelda’s height and rigged for Zelda’s animations and such.

Thats a small detail for long term small quality attention that matters to us.

 

and frankly we’re making this mod for ourselves first and foremost. We aren’t cutting corners to get it out faster because we want a better quality experience even if it’s not noticeable right away. 
 

In short, just know your complaining isn’t going to make us work any faster or slower and I think you’ll all look stupid in the long run when people see just how comprehensive and complete the experience we deliver is.
