why does my computer take a huge drop in FPS for performance enb

I looked at a lot of performance enb and they claim that the fps drop is 5-10 maximum, or sometimes even 2 or 3.

However i downloaded every single one of those and tried it, and my fps dropped way more, about 20 fps loss for 'the best performance mode: no dof no AA no AF no sSAo no sharperning etc)

My specs:

i7 2630qm 2.0ghz

amd 6570m gddr5

6gb ram

I've had the same issue trying those so called performance enb presets. The fact of the matter is, any enb is going to reduce your fps substantially. It's just the nature of enb. It will hit some systems harder than others of course. I'm not saying 2-10fps loss is impossible, just not likely. If you read the enb forums a 20fps drop is not uncommon. Post processing effects are a resource intensive task.

Here are some things you can try though:

http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENB#tab=Troubleshooting

There are also tabs on that page to explain what the ini settings do in order to help you adjust it for your system. You can use the in game gui pressing "shift-enter"  Start by turning everything off. Then enable them one at a time. Usually the biggest performance eaters are usually SSAO/DoF/SunRay/Reflections/Skylighting.

Then as you enable settings one at a time you can try changing their quality and filter settings to 2 for better performance.

Currently my favorite enb is Phinix Natural ENB

I use Ultimate lighting overhaul by viodnull, file on nexus, Its not really an enb but imo very similar. I get next to 0 fps loss running an AMD A8 vision, internal Ati card w 512 dedicated. I tried several performance enbs before trying this and they all destroyed my fps imo this mod is a great alternative. attached a ss , just a note i'm running COT along with ULO

That's a good idea. Though I prefer Enhanced Lights and FX myself.  Here's a comparison video of ELFX, RLO, and Immersive Interiors. Unfortunately it's doesn't also have ULO video clips.

Your video card is the current bottleneck (i7 is even overpowered for Skyrim, and most of your 6GB of RAM are never going to be used by the game since it is an x86 application). And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying your card is crappy, just that ENB is always going to drop the fps ratio significantly, regardless of the settings.

Are you using the latest (or at least somewhat recent) ENB binaries? They have some memory and performance fixes.

As  johnnyboy88 mentioned, you can try turning things off in the settings to see how much fps you can gain at the cost of quality.

Also, try the settings file that ENBBoost in Nexus has.
