Koko.Hekmatyar Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Seriously she is rather fickle when it comes to first meeting her with killing the giant. One time I killed the giant with a bow/arrow and she tells me they handled it well no thanks to me when I'M the one who killed it Now on this play through I thought I'd have some fun so I did a horseback attack at the giant and killed it so when I dismount she says I handle myself well and what not. I killed the giant both times yet one I'm useless and the other I'm useful like WTF fickle much?
Sophisa Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 "Aela the That's Nice, I'm gonna go talk to Farkas now, he's way cooler than you." It's probably a range thing, if you shot from too far from her the game might not have picked up on it? I dunno.
Katsoro Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 She's scripted to say that no matter what you do.
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 She is only scripted to say you're useless if you're there and don't help them kill the Giant in both cases I helped them kill it so I shouldn't have gotten the Negative response.
b3lisario Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 This piqued my curiosity. Wanted to know how the game manages all this dialog thing and this is what I saw: Quest: C00GiantAttack Quest Alias: Giant It's scripted to initialize a variable on being hit by the player, if the giant isn't already dead. The negative dialog is used when the variable is not initialized. It's seems to me that the game failed to recognize your hits, or the quest was inactive somehow. Maybe you killed it with just one hit? I'm not sure how would the script handle that situation.
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 on both instances the giant was almost dead and I edited my bows/arrows by doubling the damage they do so I did kill the giant the first time in one shot I think it took two hit on the horseback try.
srayesmanll Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Also possible that Aela/Ria/Farkas killed it right before your arrow hit it, so your single shot didn't count. I've hit the giant from the other side of the farm wall (from between the farm and the meadery) numerous times and it always registered the hit even if it was a single fatal blow.
Madmartigan34 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Yes, I've done this event about 8 times. I think that even though I scored a successful hit several times, it was already dead before my arrow "counted". It unfolded differently every time I went to the area. With about a 50/50 shot of me getting Aela to say I did well.
Bloodfang Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 For this script you have two options, depending on you hitting the giant ONCE (it's useless to hit him more but you can do so to improve your skills) : - You didn't hit the giant : the companions don't care about you, or at least from what I remember Aela don't come to you. - You hit the giant once : Aela runs to you and say that you should join the companions. No need to kill the giant, Aela doesn't give a shit about it, but it's weird that she told you you're useless after you hit the giant haha ^^
Duoleb The Chosen Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 when she first meets you she calls you noob, then after she goes tsundere with you too bad that bethesda upgraded only lydia =(

Duoleb The Chosen Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 when she first meets you she calls you noob, then after she goes tsundere with you too bad that bethesda upgraded only lydia =( what do you mean only upgraded Lydia? well from all skyrim followers in game she received most treatment in all DLC's(Due to the other VA's being occupied with other projects), EVEN in solstheim is hinted that she was with you to the end mainly because she became the poster girl of this game and your deuteragonist
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 That's Understandable I guess she is the first Vanilla follower you get after all.
