Survival Game Suggestions

Sup?!  XD

So I'm one of those people that like survival games; gotta move, have to micro manage food, water, health, etc you are not able to take on massive hordes of enemies, maybe have to shack up somewhere to be safe for a while, etc.  Realistic type of stuff to a point if you understand what I'm saying.  That being said, I don't really actually KNOW many games like that :/  I have played and downloaded a few mods for skyrim and oblivion with such things; Cold and Wet being one such, and I've played like minecraft and the like but I still haven't found one I really enjoy (or at least, that I can remember XD )  Those examples of course are rough examples mind you.

SO I'm reaching out to the community:  You guys have any suggestions about that type of game?  I know I'm being a bit vague on what I'm looking for here but if you have any questions let me know and I will try to explain.  I'll take any and all suggestions here.

I really, really recommend Don't Starve. It's not a "Realistic" game, but it's no hand-holding, and it does have it's own neat game-logic of how the world works. It's got a great (in my opinion) artistic style, and is just a joy to play. I always find it really calming, hah, even though I'm struggling to survive in-game. Look up some information on it, see if it's the sort of thing you would be interested in. :) The Devs have been updating it for six months past release with new content, but after the last patch, for now, they've stated that they want to work on polishing up what currently exists. However, there may be plans for DLC to be released in the future. We will see.

I saw that when it first came out on steam, it certainly looked like a pretty interesting game I just didn't know how it was going to be lol.  Glad though I've got a recommendation for it, I'l lhave to check it out now and see how much it's on steam :)

Actually, it just got off of a sale. :\ It goes on sale for 40% off fairly regularly, so if you are in no rush, feel free to just wait it out. And don't forget that you can save on a two-pack if you are wanting to get one for a friend.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl (PC) recommended at highest difficulty (or close to highest)

S.T.A.L.K.E.R Call of Pripyat (PC) same as above

Both have food needs (tough to a very basic level),scavenge for supplies(ammo, meds, food, equipment), at higher difficulties you will learn to fear the environment(especially at night when visibility is almost 0 even with a flashlight), gun play is very realistic, every now and then you have to have to rush for cover before a deadly emission strikes, the AI is not stupid at all (too smart sometimes)...

Oh, another suggestion. Or I guess two. I've been kinda just casually watching the development of these two games. I'm not really interested at the current moment (apparently starforge is very heavily discouraged, the gameplay is said to not be as fleshed out as the trailers show, and slow progress.) but they might become viable in the future.

-State of Decay (x360 )

-Don't Starve(PC)

-DayZ (PC)

State of decay... you would think i would know that one since I play xbox regularly :/  lol   Don't starve I'm checking up on still I can either see it as really good or eh.  And dayz I have played; it still is glitchy though and can be way difficult depending on what server you choose adn the settings.  But its WAY fun if you know what youre doing... yea... still trying to figure that out...

video games being realistic? Bahhaa!

If you want some good games try Stalker from Shadow of Chernobyl to Clear Sky to Call of Pripypat. It's incredibly immersive, and quite good to play. Look for ZRP for Shadow of Chernobyl, SRP for Clear Sky, and I can't remember the one for Pripypat. Essentially, you're a Stalker (acronym for Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, and Robbers). You play as the Marked One in SoC; The world essentially had an event, it created "zones" in the world due to humanity dicking around with things but the change is immense. Anomalies, mutated animals, bandits.. it's not post-apocalypse. The world is fine, it's just in what's now called the zone (36 sqaure miles of shit that wants you dead). You explore a good amount of it in the main game (SoC). There's no hand holding in this game, and combat can crush you at times until you understand what to do. Give it a whirl. I recommend reading a starting guide, it's seirously just google in google images. Now if you want another game not akin, or related to Stalker, Try System Shock 2. These are great games that take a lot of patience and personally developed skill to finish. Have fun.

Always play Master difficulty. The game legitimately lowers chance percent to hit on lower difficulties, and enemies are stupid bullet sponges. On Master they do more damage to you but ergo, you do more to them as well.
