Not a problem with this mod. There are many players using this mod with no complains. Make sure the active sim has at least one dvd in inventory. Join discord for support.

I dunno. You saying "I never said animations are mine so im not taking credit for that" sounds even more condescending and I know you're not trying to but you're aware of that and yet still use it in your mods that are still being back up by Patreon albeit Patreon being an optional thing.

The part you just read was the answer to l0ngdickj0ns0n: "It would be one thing if you were the animator of the videos and that's why you were charging".

 

So, once again, if I'm "charging" is to support the mod and time and effort it requires to convert a video into EA format, which makes it possible to see those videos in your game, not because of the videos themselves. I can list you a bunch of websites where the videos are published for the public. And I use only those. Not something that is still on Patreon and not released for the public by its author yet. If people don't feel like supporting it, yet they want the mod, the mod is free, and so are the DVDs (some already released in HD format).

i was looking forward to try out this mod. it does some nifty tricks quite well, like the dvd player integration is a cool idea, and the very few hd videos that are available are nice and all, but in contrast, it's shocking how incredibly low quality the other free sd videos are. the resolution is something like 160x90pixels, and the sound is just an unintelligible "ksshhh-ksss-kshhhh" noise. so at their present quality they are just plain unwatchable, which is a bit sad.

 

 

so my first impressions are a bit mixed for now, but i will definitely revisit this once more videos are available in a watchable quality.

Swiftee, thanks for the message. The "ksshhh-ksss-kshhhh" videos are in fact some of the first ones, while are I was trying with different modes of encoding, and keeping the file size at a minimum. You can check with the newer versions (and the HD ones i already released). A optional extension mod (so a dedicated, optional .package file) to disable the purchase requirement would be cool. In other words - that all sims have access to view all movies without prior purchasing them. As with a streaming service.

 

When purchasing DVDs, the inventory gets so crowded. That's annoying me quite a lot actually.

Hi. Yes, thanks for the tip regarding the streaming service, I also have been thinking about that. Since the DVDs are different objects, they dont group together, so im trying to find a way around that issue.

I have released a new version of DVDs and Its Movie Time mod, now the DVDs and Posters will stack together, so no more Inventory/Build-Buy overcrowding, and also, there is an option to activate Video-On-Demand service on the active lot, and that gives access to the movies for any Sim on the lot, without the need to buy the DVDs.

hey tank - this mod seems to be getting better by the day. i had a small suggestion that falls into the cheat category. it would be great if you found an icon for an entire stack of DVDs and let it occupy one inventory slot but played all your movies.

Hey buddy, thanks for the support I hope i understood correctly, you mean all the DVDs to stack together and waste only 1 spot in the inventory, is that correct? If so, I did that, the new DVDs all stack together (any DVD v2.3 and higher will stack together). If you see at the download section, there are some of the DVDs which i already upgraded to v2.3, like Hope, Ratatouille, Ice Age, Dangerous Viewing XXX, Lara - Island of Sacred Beasts and Nier First Assembly (make sure to upgrade ItsMovieTime to v2.4.1 as well, if you didnt yet). Im working on the other DVDs as well, and upgrade them to the newest version (reworking SD video and audio quality, while im on it).

Lara - Island of Sacred Beasts is not recognized by the mod.  The option to choose this, despite being in inventory, does not show up in the option wheel.  Otherwise, everything else works as intended.

I just tested it in game, i dont see any issue (also no accidental overriding/conflict with other DVDs). Did you download v2.3 of the DVD ? If it stacks with the other DVDs, then you have the latest version. Make sure to delete avatarcache.package and localthumbcache.package from Sims 4 mods directory, so that the game updates the resources (has to become a habit, after installing/updating/deleting mods).

I am aware of that, but its not about file size, its the about the directory structure that gets created once you extract the zipped mod. I created a sort of "template" of directories (tanksmods/dvds), in order to make it easier for people to install the mod and not have accidental duplicates. Players who know what they are doing, they can ignore this template, and just extract the .package file. Others who dont know, they can extract the directory tanksmods, which is inside the zipped file, into sims 4 mods directory, and everything gets created/overwritten automatically.

Sorry about that mate, but as I mentioned in the description, the mod will work with the older version of DVDs, so there is no need to re-download everything, although it would be better if you prefer to have the dvds tagged and categorized.

This could be a nice little mod, although at present it doesn't really seem to do much anything extra (apart from the DVD and poster object trinkets) compared to the WickedWhims built in player. But mate, calling these free videos "Standard Def" is an insult to my broken 1986 Samsung VCR in the attic.

The video quality is atrociously low (digging into the package, exporting the asset I can see that the res is 512x288, which would be okay, ingame vids use the same, but you put a blocky filter on it, so the real resolution is probably something like a quarter of that). Meh, but you already know all this, as it obviously was done on purpose, a probably monetary one at that. And it looks like it's working. 92 patrons with 4 bucks a pop... not a bad little gig for converting and selling other peoples videos - most probably without their consent or permission - So, well done I suppose, got to respect a good hustle. Maybe I should look up a tutorial and try doing the same.

PS: I had a good chuckle when I saw this in one of the videos:

I suppose good ol' Puppetmaster mate didn't explicitly say it should be bought from him... LOL.

Not really getting the point of this comment, and not sure why WhickedWhims was brought into this (and WW build-in player doesn't do anything more than what this mod does, start a movie, watch it, have the sim jerk off). As for the consent or permission of the creators of the videos, those videos are already free on internet, you know the sites. Anyway, if you noticed well enough, i only bring the videos into the game, i created a framework, or a bridge if you like, and thats it. All the info, description and credits are there in the video footage (so in a way, i'm advertising their work in sims). So if you enjoyed the movie but have not bought it, please buy it.

Make sure to have the latest version of ItsMovieTime, its v2.6.2, the integrated DVD player is no longer required. Typically you wont need the dvd player either, you can play directly on the TV (although i have tested it a multiple time with dvd player/video game console as well, no issues). Also, remove localthumbcache.package and avatarcache.package from Sims 4 mods directory, if you updated it.
