[WIP] For The Love Of Mara

Some of you know about this already, but I'm working on a new mod called "For The Love of Mara". The scenario is as follows:

There's a splinter sect of the Temple of Mara calling themselves "The Redemption" (members are called "redeemers").

The Redemption is dismayed by the number of young female criminals who are killed out of hand in Skyrim every year. Bounty hunters, hired thugs, even the companions kill these young women without a second thought. The Redemption also believes that with a little extra effort, a firm hand and some loving guidance, these wayward girls could be saved from a life of crime. Redeemed, if you will.

The Redemption has set up shop in Whiterun in the form of Sister Magartha who has taken up residence in Dragonsreach Dungeon. She will hand out bounty missions to the PC, who then has to find the target, defeat her in combat, enslave her and bring her back to Magartha. The girl will then be put in jail to serve her full sentence.

The trouble (as some people see it) is that Sister Magartha is altogether too keen on the "firm hand and strict guidance" aspect of Redemption. She believes that wilful pride is keeping these girls from the healing power of Mara's Love and the only remedy is to break that pride down with repeated beatings, humiliation and even sexual abuse. All in the name of Love, of course.

And so the PC gets an unending supply of radiant quests on which (s)he is actively encouraged to beat and abuse the captives. Once returned the girls get put into the Xaz Prison Overhaul framework, so they'll spend a week or so being marched naked to the pillory and back. Once they've served their time they'll vanish off into the wilds and probably turn up as the subject of another mission in due course.

I want to have four or five radiant quests for this. I've already got an equivalent of the Companion Escaped Criminal quest. I'd like to add clones of some of the Dawnguard radiants. So target in a bandit lair, for instance, or captured by vampires. That sort of thing. That, along with a decent number of girls should keep this one fairly fresh for a long time :)

I also want each of the girls to be unique with a backstory and a relationship with the PC that evolves over time, but this is where the amount of work really ramps up and I may have to make some compromises there. On the plus side, I'm going to use  SexLab, Sx3, SD3 and XPO to handle most of the framework issues while I concentrate on quests and dialogue.

Anyway, that's the idea. I'm posting updates on my LL blog, Working On The Slave Trade, but I'll post here when there's news to be read.

Like the sound of it, are you planning on adding a Player Enslaved route aswell?

 

I thought about that. The trouble is it would end up virtually identical with the Sanguine's Debauchery Thugs quest: get a bounty/get attacked/get enslaved and marched across half of skyrim/and then a spot of Xaz prison treatment at the end.

 

Which isn't to say I can't think of a few ways to spice things up mind you. Maybe after I get the slaver side done. I don't want this to grow out of control the way SSG did :)

Hehe, true that, but you could potentially come up with more dialogue and story than can be seen (atleast by me lol) within SD. But aye, very important not to let things get out of hand! And what ever you do will be great!

Yeah, that's it, really. I mean the obvious thing would be to make the captors unique NPCs with backstories and enough dialogue that you can get to know them as you travel. And you could expand the thing to take the PC on a tour of all the hold capitals with a punishment session in each of them, I can think of a few fun wilderness encounters as well.

 

But that's a whole 'nother mod there on top of what I'm already doing. So fun as it sounds, it's definitely going on the back burner :)

Want to thank you for making this post and letting us know what your working on! :D I know that I have at least one character that will love to have this sort of hold over the women...and the prospect of getting to actually have 'relationships' with them will be awesome!

On the subject of which, there's a new blog post up. Short version:

 

  • I've finally started on the XPO side of the mod
  • I'm thinking of giving it its own esm and calling it SexLab PONG (for Prison Overhaul Next Generation :))
  • (actually, the long version isn't much longer!)

 

That's about it for now. I'm making steady progress, and trying not to push myself too hard. All in all, I'm happy :)

Simple yet brilliant idea for a mod. Sounds like a winner. Please don't svrimp on the quest/dialogue angle, since that is what will make this mod really special. It would also be great if some of the redeemed criminals could become followers whose subsequent careers could develop in different lines depending on the player character's allegiances and priorities. If player is member of Dark Brotherhood, he or she could take a novice trainee under his or her wing (teach her everything he knows). A thieves' guild apprentice could be used to seduce marks into postcoital slumber before a pickpocket attempt. More righteous players would no doubt want to teach their slaves to behave with mroal rectitude (except in bed of course). All things considered, this is a mod to watch. Good luck!

I don't mind testing now and then... Broken saves seemingly getting them running again is my speciality LOL

 

As for the part of SD saying... I'm still willing to see a GROUP up mod doing lots of things alike that... SO I wouldn't mind you go into those waters :D

Sound interesting, will be keeping this tracked, good ideas as to relationship.

Will require quite some idea/writing as to story's (background) and quest design, if you need help, tell.

A quick heads-up: There's a new blog post up. It's quite a big one talking about the prison overhaul and how it interacts with the redeemers and all sorts of stuff like that.

I agree. The fun in this is going to be in the way the girls' reactions change over time. On the other hand, if I go too far I find myself writing 20+ companions all of them approaching Vilja in complexity. Which would be cool, but it would never get finished. So I need to find some middle ground :)

That's a very cool idea. I'd considered having some reformed girls in charge of the Redeemers operation in other cities, but I hadn't considered the player taking them under his or her wing quite like that.

Again though, there's a lot of work there. Certainly I couldn't do it for the general case. It should be possible to give certain girls options to become productive members of factions where the PC is in charge.

That said, a lot of them are going to be repeat offenders, if only because I don't want the quest to run out of missions :)

I have a question or two, I think this is an appropriate place to ask...:P 

 

1. It will be so designed that the PC can aid in the 'punishment' of the captives, correct?

 

2. Is there any current way (NOT with this mod, but with any other mod that anyone knows of), to be able to spank/whip a companion/NPC? Even without any dialog or special equipment to hold the companion down, a 'tool' which would allow you to do the business to them and leave marks but not make them hostile? There is a whip in the zaz pack that I think leaves marks and such....but I was wondering if it's able to actually be used. (I know it's used in the prison overhaul by the jailors, seen it in action, wondered if my character would be able to use it as well?)

I have used the console to get the whip from Zaz and have whipped a follower. As long as you have them set to ignore "friendly fire" they'll meekly take it.

Of course I remember you. And yeah, once I get back to developing the girls, your knack at crafting characters and backgrounds could come in very handy :)

 

How's the SimBrothe Revival going? I thought about pitching in and helping with that one a while back

Though I am kinda busy at my own work to actually do much at the moment. Trying to get enough capital to open my own gaming company in 5 years time.
