How many mods?

I have around 70 mods. Ups, I just saw the real count, make that 101.

But comparing by just mere mod counting makes little sense. I mean, one can have 20 mods, all texture replacement, that will only eat up more RAM; while other can have 20 but include things like overhauls, that might conflict with each other and generate a bit more chaos than just replacing textures.

So for textures and meshes (replace or add new objects to the game), as long as you have a good system you can keep adding more and more until you see that your game gets stuck in an infinite loading loop or crashes while changing locations, etc. You can have like 100 of those, and as long as not everything is present on the screen at the same time you'll be fine. And they are quite safe to install and uninstall.

For mods that change behavior of the game, just try just not to stack them up (having two or three AI overhauls, for example).  As long as BOSS can handle that, you'll remain happy.

For mods that add new things, you can, again, have a lot of them, as long as they do not mess with existing content. So you can have new  houses, new quest mods (assuming they are all new locations), and so on.

At the most 160, at the moment 121. I've gotten to a point where I am quite happy with the build and have become very reluctant to add more without being certain that I am willing to keep them for an entire play-trough.

I currently have 31 esm's and 221 esp's and there are a number of mods (such as hair packs and individual armors) that I have combined. 90% of these are things that change visuals or gameplay and the rest are armor/weapon mods. I have managed to take just about every hair pack and condense the number of esp's down to 5 not including Apachii but includes the 6 sg hairs and 7 oblivion hair packs along with about 10 others.
