I hope it would work, but don't you think it would be a little jarring if the girl you just went to a charity with had her breasts grow, waist widen, voice get more sexual, every facial blemish vanish, and her entire demeanor changes the instant you stepped through your front door? On the one hand, you have the madonna-whore aspect of it. On the other, the person you're spending so much time with is impermeant to the point that it's unclear what exactly you're bonding with.

An android and it's not even close. A dog or a cat can be really nice but come on, compared to a super advanced AI bot? Hell no it's an obvious choice for me. I mean even aside all the sexbot stuff which both me and my partner would love, just the sheer amazement of interacting with such high level technology would be it's own reward.

 

A sentient machine will always be infinitely more impressive than a fucking dog man get outta my face, we're just biological machines ourselves lmao.

Bots usurping your marriage bed and defiling it while you are "forced" to watch by your pissed off partner (who gets pissed on a whim, this whole bot thing was meant to get back at you.)

Um, but you couldn't afford the bot, foreign low-paid workers have been replaced by bots.

Nonpartisan bots in government would do all the work while politicians golfed and skied..

Even if this post is a bit old, I still want to contribute my thoughts to it.
Morally it would be wrong somewhere. Even if one were to go by the current level of technological development, it would just feel wrong to me to own something that has a mind of its own to a limited extent.

Even if the AI was that advanced, it wouldn't change my mind.

Even if at first glance it's 'just' a piece of technology that I bought, it would only show me that this android was only subordinate to my will. It would only make me uncomfortable, even if the programming said so, even if the self-developing AI had a self of its own.

Since films like Blade Runner (BR 2049), I Robot, GiTS, Bicentennial Man, Ex Machina, The PC Game Detroit: becomes Human or series like Real Humans, I've found the topic more than interesting, but the media have mostly left me quite thoughtful. I think every kind of being, whether artificial or not, has a right to a free choice in my opinion.

For example, in the Star Trek episode - The Measure of a Man - the subject is dealt with quite well.
It can also be extended to other topics that have sparked much discussion these days, such as personal self-discovery and definition.

 

However, if the AI were so advanced that an individuality exists and can freely decide to accompany me on my way, then I wouldn't have any problems with that.

 

It doesn't matter, if Human or a Pet.

Auch wenn dieser Post schon etwas betagt ist, so möchte ich dennoch meine Gedanken dazu beitragen.
In moralischer Hinsicht wäre es irgendwo falsch. Selbst wenn man nach dem Stand der heutigen technischen Entwicklung gehen würde, würde es sich für mich nur falsch anfühlen, so etwas zu besitzen, das in begrenzten Maßen ein eigenes Denken besitzt.

Selbst wenn die KI so weit entwickelt wäre, würde es meine Meinung nicht ändern.

Auch wenn es im ersten Moment 'nur' ein Stück Technik ist, das ich käuflich erworben habe, aber es würde mir dann nur zeigen, dass dieser Android nur meinem Willen untergeordnet wäre. Es würde mir nur unbehagen auslösen, selbst wenn die Programmnierung es so vorgeben würde, selbst wenn die selbstentwickelnde KI ein eigenes Ich hätte. 

Seit Filmen wie Blade Runner (BR 2049), I Robot, GiTS, Bicentennial Man, Ex Machina, das PC Spiel Detroit: becomes Human oder Serien wie Real Humans, finde ich das Thema mehr als interessant, aber diee Medien haben mich meist recht nachdenklich zurück gelassen. Ich finde  jede Art von Wesen, egal ob künstlich oder nicht, hat meiner Meinung nach ein Recht auf eine freie Entscheidung.

Zum Beispiel In der Star Trek Folge -The Measure of a Man - wird das recht gut behandelt das Thema.
Man kann es auch auf andere Themen ausweiten, die heutzutage viele Diskussionen ausgelöst haben, wie zum Beispiel die persönliche Selbstfindung und Definition.

 

Würde jedoch die KI so fortgeschritten sein, das eine Individualität vorhanden ist und diese frei entscheiden kann, mich auf meinem Weg zu bgeleiten, dann hätte ich damit keine Probleme. 

 

Egal ob Mensch oder Tier.

But you should also be careful with the "pet" - here too we are currently moving into the trap pointed out by SF writers ... with names -> "artificial evolution"

So far, breeding has essentially been about physical characteristics - but what would happen if we had the key to increasing the intelligence of animal breeds so that they came close to us - or were even equal.

Let me remind you - that more than 100 years ago the Czech writer "Karel Capek" not only practically invented the term "robot" (a book/play "R.U.R." - but he also dealt with the fatal effects of increasing intelligence ("War of the Newts") employed.
Why fatal? - because man had remained in his old exploitative pattern and the "pets" (work slaves) didn't find it funny and fought back.

Of course, the "robot/android" topic is much more popular and is accordingly present in comics, books or films - but the second topic "intelligence/pet" is also dealt with again and again...

...for example, an episode of "Rick and Morty" comes to mind - in which the "family dog" draws its consequences with humanity after an increase in intelligence.

Whether we enslave a "human" (aka intelligent) android or live with a 50 kg dog in a 40 square meter rented apartment ... makes no difference to me in this respect (compulsion, dependency, etc.).

Well, that makes sense, but I assumed that when it comes to pets, I also mean the intelligence of a pet.

 

Not that a dog or a cat is suddenly smarter than its owner (although sometimes I'm not quite sure when I see many a master or mistress like that)

In the scenario you describe, it would be inconceivable what would happen then. Not that everything then turns around and we get into a situation like it is portrayed in the "Planet of the Apes" films.

 

In the end, mankind will ensure that it continues to develop backwards, since technology is advancing faster and faster and make us dependent on it, quite unconsciously. I now know quite a few youngsters who can't even use proper pliers or drive a nail into a wall.

Gut, das macht Sinn, nur war ich da von ausgegangen, das ich im Bezug auf Haustiere auch die Intelligenz von eben einem Haustier meine.

Nicht das ein Hund oder eine Katze plötzlich schlauer ist als dessen Besitzer (wobei ich mir da manchmal auch nicht ganz sicher bin, wenn ich so manches Herrchen oder Frauchen so sehe)

 

In Ihrem geschilderten Szenario, wäre nicht auszudenken, was dann passieren würde. Nicht das sich dann alles umkehrt und wir in eine Situation kommen, wie es bei dem "Planet of the Apes" Filmen dargestellt wird.

 

Am Ende wird die Menschheit schon selber dafür sorgen, das sich diese immer weiter zurückentwickelt, da die Technik immer schneller voranschreitet und uns teilweise von dieser Abhängig machen, ganz unbewusst. Ich kenne mittlerweile einige Jugendliche, die nicht einmal eine Zange richtig benutzen können, oder einen Nagel in eine Wand schlagen.
