[Resolved] FDI v's XDI

I've used FDI (Full Dialogue Interface) for a long while now (anything's better than the crap vanilla dialogue) but have recently been looking at XDI (Extended Dialogue Interface) as it seems a bit more versatile though a somewhat uglier display. I tested XDI briefly and it seems to run okay

I've always found FDI stable but both mods seem to have some reports of bugs.

I was wondering what user's views are of which (if any) is better than the other. I'm tempted towards XDI as I'm using the Problems of Survivor mod but don't want to give myself problems if it's not as stable as FDI

XDI is completely stable and is a much better solution.  XDI dynamically generates all of the text it displays at runtime, so it works with any mod.  FDI uses predefined strings, so it only works with the base game and with mods that have string packs written for it.

The complaints about XDI came from mod authors who relied on dialogue prompts to make configuration menus, e.g.

1. [Configure follower distance] Hi there.

2. [Configure combat behavior] Hi there.

...

etc.  Because XDI doesn't show the prompt, the menus "don't work".  In fact they work fine, you just don't see the prompts.  But if you happen to be using one of the few mods that does this, you can install Wolfmark's "XDI Original Prompts" patch to restore the prompts: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kxqj-9d8ShNtbHeKjqw67gjbFuaBUrb6/view

Either way, stability isn't an issue at all with XDI, I've played through Problems of Survivor, Nuka-Ride, etc, with it, not to mention all my own stuff.

So far I only stumbled upon very few mods with XDI issues and usually they have a patch.

Sim Settlements 2 is one example.

Having had a chance to use it I think I prefer it to FDI. Have to read the dialogues though as the numbering is sometimes different to FDI
