Deliaxoxo Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Hello, I would like to know if there exists a mod, where the sims are talking in an actual language?
Chlodwig Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 you mean that the sound when sims speak is a real language like english etc?. I doubt it, you would not only have to "translate" the simlish into real language you would have to create sentences for all the options in the game so that the real language sentences match to the things your sims are currently talking about. 1
snowdog04 Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 It might be something that's possible, but it would be a huge project. And I bet many of the sentences would end up sounding flat and computer-generated. "Translating" simlish wouldn't work, because in many cases the sim isn't actually saying anything specific. For example, something you may have heard your sim say many times: "Moochy peachy? Sheddy beloo? Ornoy!" would simply translate as (cheerful conversation). And other words mean more than one thing: "dag dag" means "hello," "goodbye," or "thank you." And then imagine your sim suddenly shouting "I really have to pee! I really have to pee!" during sex lol. That's what "lorra" means! 1
Amanitaa Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 I can't imagine it would work. Who would bother to translate this huge game? However, you can use Frankk's language mod. At least the Sims themselves use different languages depending on where they come from. https://frankkmods.com/#/ts4/languagebarriers

It was nice, but it kept making sims get into fights over language barriers, and they'd hold long term grudges over it - even if I cheated them to speak the same language and removed all negative relationship items with cheats, some grudge would just persist. That made gameplay very difficult, and also felt very weird as normal people just don't get angry like that about language. You kind of have to be a bigot of some sort to get mad about language. Which would have been a way to do it, there are traits for small-minded people after all. But mostly it was the grudge matches that kept popping up in my game that made it just too much to handle. Guest Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 Speaking 'Simlish' makes sense to me! It stops endless translation posts, and having a universal language unites sims of all ethnicities and cultures! Different languages create a barrier to unity!
Chlodwig Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 and Unity is death to freedom and diversity.
MrGrey Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 Does Frank's Language barriers mod have new sound files? It always bugged me, (especially in sims 3) that everyone speaks Simish with an American English an accent. I wanted to hear a Chinese accent when in China, a French Accent when in France, and an Egyptian accent when in Egypt. In sims 4, I was disappointed that it was still English phonemes in Snowy Escape. I hoped for Japanese. Only 6 voice actors for the entire game? Does that seem right to you?

There is no freedom, there never ever was...democracy is an elaborate illusion in this modern world. Diversity is a tool to open some doors and close a hundred more.
