Which version of the game are you playing on?

Issue with using the downgrader is some people are intentionally (or not) deleting older version of their mods and there are no guarantee that new mods going to support 1.5.97 or not

I could just use the current version but some required mods (apparently) are never going to be updated and im not sure if other mods (in general) are updated for the current version or not.

I know this has been asked before but they are all from 2021 so let me ask this again. Which version of the game do you prefer to play on and why?

I wanna setup a two different profiles for different playthroughs (including mods from here) and i can't decide which version is going to be better for that.

1.5.97.0 and no intention to update in the next 12 months. I'm happy with my setup as it is. If I think of something I want I typically make it myself. AE to me is just SE with the CC. I despise what the CC is trying to do. I'm not specifically talking about getting paid for mods, but rather what Bethesda would do with it if the community gave them the go-ahead. I expect the community will know what I mean here once TES6 launches, as odds are extremely high it will have "CC version 2". I'm not too optimistic about that one either, as you can probably tell.

Cynical old fart? Yeah probably. Yay for no compatibility issues though. ?

1.5.97 too. Stable since 2019. I've only seen 4 or 5 mods released without support for this version (and then a different author releases a compatible dll for it). I didn't see a point in updating to 1.6.353 (I still had around 20 mods not updated for it), so I'm not rushing to the more recent updates anytime soon.

The only mod I had to stop updating was USSEP (and tbh the less that mod does and changes the better for me, so I keep an old version before all this AE drama and I'm good). Other mods that are relevant for the different versions are obviously skse plugins (mods with a dll), which as I said 99% of them were compatible with 1.5.97 and are still being released and supported by most authors. As for other mods you're fine, unless a mod requires a CC mod (in which case you can either install it+downgrade with best of both, or completely ignore all CC related content).

At the end of the day it's your call. You should decide based on the mods and content you want to have in your game. In any case you should avoid automatic updates and keep track of which game/SKSE versions you're using so you know which mods to get/avoid.

Not at all. Personally i don't have any hope for TES6.

Since announcement of AE i had to delay modding this game 3 times. Im not interested in like %90 of what AE brings to this game. I would just pick 1.5.97 but some people are making it hard to do so.

Guides in your signature will be helpful so thanks for that. I haven't got around modding this game for a while so im quiet lost where to start.

Beside that i want to ask two more questions to everyone

- Does anyone know any detailed guide(s) for 1.5.97 that uses vortex?

- Does anyone know any good place to download arthmoor's mods for 1.5.97 such as USSEP,CRF,Alternate Start?

As far as I know any vortex guide would work for 1.5.97. I mean, what's changed? SKSE version, anything else? And that doesn't have anything to do with vortex either.

As for USSEP and LAL, see your messages.

My 2 bits on things to remember for Vortex

1) Let it do its job. Vortex is not MO2. most issues are, or can be set to run background. Ie, you install, enable, and deploy. that's it (for most). Vortex will in most cases set thing up right from the get go. 98% of the time, installation of a mod is as easy for me as clicking install, enable and deploy. I don't even watch FNIX do its thing any more. just let it alone. It'll tell me if there was a problem.

2) If it doesn't make the decision for you, it will prompt you to resolve a conflict. Normally, just choose Vortex's suggested remedy. In rare cases, you have to refer to the mod page from advise (creature framework is one), to determine which choice to make, but again, it's rare (ie vortex makes no suggestion).  Of course, on very rare occasion, it *does make mistakes

3) Tweak the game after the fact. You wanted the wooden fencing from Mod A, that's unfortunately overwritten by Mod B by (which is set to load after mod A for other reasons, ie why you wanted it in the first place...maybe the style of houses in a hold rebuild, idk...). Check file contentions for the mod, and set the fencing textures to use mod A, not mod B. Mod B still dominates, but Mod A wins the day on fencing.

I haven't modded since LE and was thinking of downgrading to 1.5.97 as well. To all you folks still on this version, do most SL mods on here still work with it? I know there's 1.5 downloads for SL framework and mods like SD, but what about animations that have no alternate version (like Billyy's)? Any other issues you've ran into? Thought I'd ask before modding the entire game again.

I am using Skyrim SE version 1.6.353.0 updated 17.01.2022 and I honestly haven’t found a mod that I wanted that wasn’t either already ported to SE or just also worked for SE.
