CTD on exterior...?

Here we go again. Sorry to bother you, I don't know why but there is something that it's making my Skyrim crash.

This started to happen on top of the Shadowgreen Cavern, so out of spite and curiosity I loaded an old save file to troubleshoot. And now it crashes even outside of it. In a snowy area.

I've attached the Papyrus log and also got this by analyzing the dump file, but I'm not really good at reading those. Anyone can help me troubleshooting?

Yeah I use a enb, RuBy enb. I tried the 4GB patch but it still crashes. Also pretty sure I've added the right amount of videomemorysize on the enblocal.ini, I followed the steps guide. You think it's a memory issue? To be fair I don't mind switching ENB as long as the game works. Even tho it's weird, people with a PC with lower specs than mine are able to run it. I have a 1660 SUPER, a Ryzen 5 3600 with 6 processors and 16gb or ram. They should be ok in theory.

Posted

Nah, if RuBy enb works for you I don't really see a reason to change.

Also they don't really remove CDTs fully, they just manage to reduce them. Sometimes I crash 2-4 times in a row and then on the 5th try it works for some reason.

Posted

I tried another ENB didn't really mind trying but it still crashes after like one or two minutes of playing. It became unplayable and I don't know why. ?

Papyrus.3.log 179.03 kB · 1 download

Your papyrus.log suggests that several mods are not installed - at least there are many scripts that are missing.
Look in the log for such entries and find out which mods they are:
Cannot open store for class "xxxxxxx", missing file?

And let LOOT check your loading order.

Posted (edited)

They are from mods that are actually installed, like Companion Arissa, for some reason it's giving the missing file but her esm is activated. I have no idea why it crashes, I tought that maybe it was the snowy area but even when I fast travel it crashes after a couple of minutes...

Also of course I did the basic steps. Loot, Fnis Animations, checking everthing was in order in the INI files... I'm literally searching everywhere and I'm pretty sure at this point that it's not a mod. Otherwise the game wouldn't have worked even in the past.

I had this issue and found out it was some mesh in my architecture folder. I did this by going into the meshes folder, and finding anything that related to interior, like architecture, clutter, landscape, etc. From the meshes folder, rename the folder by adding back up, ex "BACKUP_Architecture" folder, and then launch your game. Do this with all the files that relate to exteriors. Then launch the game and see if it crashes. If it doesn't you know it's a mesh, in one of those folders. Now, go in and remove "BACKUP_" from the folders you edited one by one until you know which folder it is. Once you know what folder it is you can repeat the process for the files in that folder until you've narrowed it down to whichever meshes it was, if it is a mesh. It works for me EVERY time. Good luck.

Access to script files is not always done by the mod itself, but can also be done by other mods.
So it may be that a mod no longer has these scripts due to an update, but another mod (which has not yet been updated) wants to access these missing scripts.
A CTD in the outdoor area also suggests that a mesh is corrupt or NPCs (e.g. animals) are using the wrong skeleton, etc.
My suggestion - start a new game with few mods active and then gradually activate the mods to find out which mod is responsible for it.
You can save your old save in the console: save xxx
XXX is the name of the save. This type of save is never overwritten by the game.

Sorry for the long time it took for me to answer.

So, I started a new game, but with a NG it does not crash. So it's not a mesh or a mod, it's something in that savefile. The problem is that savefile should be clean, the savetool.exe does not find any issues... what am I supposed to do or try at this point? Because if I start a new game again this issue could appear again in the near future and I'd like to use that savefile.

Did you solve this problem? I might be facing something similar. Yesterday the game was working just fine, but today it crashes whenever i enter an exterior cell. Its also not limited to any particuliar save, older saves wont load either if they are in the exterior.

Unfortunately not, still not solved, if I load that file it crashes if I play a new game it doesn't...

With me it seems to have been a game engine problem. I did download a few animation packs last week, its just weird that everything worked fine initially. Thats why i didnt think this could have been the cause. I removed the offending mod and every save is fully functional again. A bit of a shame, there were some decent animations in there, but my game wont have it, i guess its just oldrim being quirky.

Or you have too many animations installed. There is a limit for FNIS animations.

Workaround here:

Im aware of this problem and i know this wasnt it. In case of exceeding this limit the game would never load to begin with. I could load the saves but even after removing some animation mods a large area would eventually bug out again. After taking a short break from the game i read in on the problem and i now believe some mods caused corrupted navmeshes which isnt fixable. Thanks for trying to help though, in case i do run into the animation limit ill have your suggestion to try.
