Bow aiming not matching crosshair

Recommended Posts

Having an issue currently, where when I move my aim up and down, the bow/how my character is holding it, moves faster than I move the crosshair, so i.e. if I look straight up aiming a bow, my character is actually holding the bow and aiming way behind their head, as shown below. Any ideas on what could be causing it, or any ideas to fix it image.thumb.jpeg.570c88917c389197826d6fd0bd29eec2.jpeg

Whatever camera mod you have isn't matched with your bow crosshair. You can try using mods like archery gameplay overhaul or bow aim fix. Personally I use smooth cam, it has a 3d raycast aiming reticle that shows the actual projectile path instead of messing with crosshair settings.

Exit first person (if you're in first person), then jump, then unequip weapon and reequip.

It seems that if you jump while holding a weapon (armed, not just in inventory), something *sometimes* gets wonked and you end up with aim being ~90 degrees out from where it should be. The above instructions are how I resolve it.

partial explanation: I've noticed over time that it happens when you jump and end up with a "float" landing, if you know what I mean (sometimes, when I jump off something, I don't actually hit the ground as if I dropped, and end up suspended in the air for a few moments before actually landing). Since I can't imagine I'm the only one who suffers from that, and since I also deal with the broken aim (my primary weapon is my bow), I suspect there are many others who experience the same symptoms, from the same source.

fwiw, ymmv, etc.

If you use Sl survival there's a known head tracking bug

Wheel - misc - debug - look at debug - set IsNpc 0

thanks, that seems to have fixed the issue.
