Blue LEDS, blue LEDS everyhwere!

I was just thinking about this.

What is up with electronics companies and blue LEDS these days.

Looking around my room, my TV has a blue LED, my 3DS has a blue LED, my Wii U has a blue LED, my PS3 has a blue LED, my microphone has a blue LED, my PC has blue LEDs in the inside AND outside.

Seriously, that color is everywhere.

Blue is a soothing color, it helps people relax. (Though, it's also known to keep people from sleeping at night; but then again lights in general tend to do that) The blue lights are intended to help make consumers that aren't that tech-savvy more comfortable with their products.

On the other end of the spectrum, red and yellow tend to make people more anxious, but also more alert since they are very eye-catching colors. (A good reason why those are both colors used for traffic signals and warning lights.)

That actually explains it pretty nicely, and I can see that since blue is a cooling color.

The effects of red explain why the Virtual Boy did so poorly though.

I think motion sickness and eye strain had more to do with the Virtual Boy tanking, but certainly being anxious doesn't help much either.

Asides from "virtual reality" being hyped to death, nobody wants to have a weighty pair of goggles strapped to his forehead.

Despite that blue (and white) LEDs are all the rage, older LEDs still have any use in most electronics. And I don't think replacing the red HD indicator light with blue would look good.

Just, B_LEDs are more suitable for standard voltage (U=3 volts):

1,5x2=3,,,,,3x4=12

Large brightness, low-cost technology transition to the white LED (luminophore)
