Gameplayer Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 So uh, here are some pictures.... Computer appears to be unused like at all, have not fired her up yet... I think its likely ~2.5-3Ghz Processor, certainly meant for Overclocking Somebody just never got around to playing with this thing. Overview, I've got the RAM modules for this, no worries. External Cooling Liquid Cooler, Close up of CPU, yes I know RAM Modules no worries I got them. The RAM is Crucial 4x2Gb 1333Hz Non-ECC 3X GTX Geforce 295 in SLI, middle one has liquid cooling. PC, is meant for Overclocking to hell and back. Dont know all the specs just yet, Came with a box of odds an ends...got manuals (not certain about MOBO book though), lots of cooling material and bottles of liquid. Came with a bunch of Hard disks. So is it worth playing Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas with TTW on this? As far as I can tell the GTX 295 was top card when Fo3 came out.
dborg2 Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Nice watercooling setup. The games were made in 2010 and older and even together they should work fine on any PC that is less then 10 years old. I think you should be able to run TaleOfTwoWastelands with some additional mods. MaternityPackOverkill (especially the version my team is working on right now) will be too heavy.
MadMansGun Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 for FONV? it's most likely still overkill. my 2007 computer can play FONV at max settings.
Gameplayer Posted July 11, 2022 Author Posted July 11, 2022 Awesome, been wanting a reason to sit down and figure out this PC. It certainly looks sick as hell, I know my current PC is pretty good but this thing is like somebodies dream machine back in the day. Was not sure its been a while since I played Fo3 and FNV, but as far as I remember it was supposedly ideal to use hardware from back then with Windows XP or Vista... Both Vista and WinXP came with a box of extra stuff still in the wrap. I just need to find a space to set up the PC for playing I guess. Really sort of curious about how she will perform I really loved those games back then it be a shame not to at least try and see how well this piece of machinery does with them. I wonder if there are other games from around 2010 I should try out with this

Ouch, so basically its going to be some digging around to find the old drivers then. I have a much...Well I got a good machine I am using now, I think I have tried to get it running TTW on max settings but the darn thing kept choking out couldnt get much more than 40FPS with my SR-2....It had a 1060TI but I think it may have been my RAM situation was only 12 gigs of 1333, I did not have it clocked properly. I did put some better RAM in there recently DDR3 1866 CL9 32 Gigs worth, then clocked it up to that speed and RAM timings...Playing Fo4 and SkyrimSe much better on my current machine now. Not sure which machine to play around on it on...But the pictures I posted that machine, IDK looks cool as all get out, I am really curious about it and want to try some old games on there to at least see if it works. Other thing running around my head is attempting to sell it, but I dont know how that will work out its not modern although some of the parts on there sell individually pretty well...Well really before I attempt that, I need to know if this stuff works haha, so I better get her fired up.

Guest Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 My last rig was a 2009 pre-built gaming rig that came with a GTX 260. I ran that up until 2018 before upgrading to a GTX 970. Your GPU is obviously good enough, but the only concern is the VRAM. It doesn't hurt to jump up to something with more VRAM and more specs. If you are willing to buy a used card of Ebay.
Papajack55 Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 Hey my PC is over 18 years old and it plays FO3/FONV/TTW perfectly. But, here's what I do every 3-4 years. I dump my computer and start it up as if it came straight from the factory. Then no lag, no slowness in the games and all that. I also added a new 8 gygatick of ram so it runs smoothly. Now I run with 16 gygastick of ram.
