Can i use a follower's makeup in RaceMenu ?

I got a follower mod and she has a pretty makeup, i see it is located in:

 

textures\Actors\character\facegendata\facetint\KatarinaDCfollowerAIO.esp

 

I am a newb with RaceMenu, is there a way to make this makeup become an asset that i can equip in RaceMenu on my character?

Or maybe it's already there? In that case where should i find it, i just get lost in all RaceMenu pages

Well, the mod author also gave out a bunch of files for the player, tatoos and stuff.

 

For CharGen of RaceMenu i also have a .nif file and a .dds file. I opened the .dds file with GIMP and discovered that it's the makeup i am looking for.

 

But i don't understand how to get it on my character.

In the "sculpt" section there is a "import head" button that will import the face of the follower, but it only asks for the .nif files

It will load the follower's face shape, eyes, brows, hair but i don't see that makeup

 

Am i missing out something? Like a well hidden button  for dds file in race menu? or something else? 

 

EDIT: it appears that if the .nif and the .dds files have the same name, after importing the .nif the .dds should come along automatically.

Well i tested this by making and renaming a copy of both files, then drew big black dots on the renamed .dds, imported the renamed .nif but there was nothing. The nif loading the .dds with its same name is not happening. What now

 

EDIT2: i also already have bEnableFaceOverlays=1 in nioverride.ini

 

Linked the dds file and the picture when opening it, again just in case

The player doesn't use FaceTints (so no final dds). The face tints of the NPC are generated from lips, eyeliner etc. and then saved with skin color as a face tint in a DDS.

With the player, the overlays are NOT combined as FaceTint in a dds and the player cannot use them from a FaceTint.dds either.

With Player, the settings for lips, eyeliner, etc. are saved separately and you can export this as a preset. But this is not a DDS, but a JSON file with the values for the colors.

Okay. so go to https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/92157 > files > “CharGen and Scar Complexion” (optional files) , where the second .dds that i attached is

 

could you tell me why from this mod description and this file description, it 100% seems that this “CharGen and Scar Complexion” download was put there with the intention to make others reecreate the characters’ appearance in RaceMenu?

 

If the .dds is perfectly useless for racemenu usage why the mod author put it there? because he is idiot?

and if it’s not for racemenu usage for what else am i supposed to use it for? why even give out that file then?

So, my best bet to recreate the makeup on player char is to just look at this texture, and fiddle with sliders trying to get it as similar as i can?

There are two parts to that download, one is a scar for racemenu and the other are facegen files for an NPC. Based on the readme, the author seems ignorant of how racemenu presets actually work. As Andy has said twice already, you can't use facegen files for the player. Player assets are saved in a json or jslot or something, not baked into a final tintmask like NPC assets. 

 

There is a file in the old downloads 'Chargen files for Racemenu (updated readme)' that contains a json preset for racemenu that probably has the makeup settings.

You have to ask the author yourself. Alternatively, you can also ask him why a JSON is available as a preset for v1.1 and not for v2.0.
The only thing the author writes about RaceMenu that is correct, you can import the nif. The Facetint cannot be used with RaceMenu. The scar dss cannot be used just like that either. Either you replace an existing vanilla scar file or you create an esp for it. Alternatively, you can also create the scar as face painting for RaceMenu.
Except for the Nif and the scar, everything else is vanilla and can be recreated in RaceMenu. The values for this are in the JSON preset of v1.1.

There were conflicting information here. I do believe you. The wrong guy is the mod author apparently 

 

My final goal was to export the racemenu head and use it for a new follower.

I will fiddle with sliders to get a similar makeup or use that dds on directly on the new follower,

the mod author profile seems quite dead for any request anyway
