zwjb1212 Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 Hey I'm looking into modding Skyrim and was wondering whats got better support standard skyrim or Special Edition as I own both? Main things Im interested in are - The ammount on content available (mods, animations, quests, etc) - The Graphical Quality (as in what can be made look the best via mods) - Stability. Id assume the last 2 are Special Edition but is there that much more content for the original version that its worth just using it instead?
Psalam Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 While this question has been asked a lot and the answers haven't really changed, let me try to summarize (you'll get varying opinions anyway). Skyrim SE (now AE) is more stable if you don't do anything to either game to make them more stable. If you follow basic modding guides you can make them equally stable. The graphical quality depends far more on your equipment and the mods that you choose than which game you use. Skyrim LE still has a few mods that have not been successfully ported but they are few. SE/AE have a few that haven't been backported either. So, it's up to you.
tessory2 Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 Of course SE (but not AE). LE is 32bit game, so there limit in using RAM. SE is 64 bit game, there no limit and working more stable. Take a look how SE can wonderful looking Spoiler
Gukahn Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 And here we go again.. Psalam already answered the question right and now an edition fanboy comes across and posts a video (of endearal, seriously?) from someone who A Knew how to and B had the Tech to use specific mods. I am on SE mate but i know how astonishing and stable LE can be too. Just let him choose the version he sees fit without the "Look at video X. your game will never look like this but it can, so choose this one over the other." Thingy? Especially if there is not a single info of what mods where used in this video ?
Gameplayer Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 There are some Bondage sex mods that have not been ported. Also I just posted up some fixes mods this week for mods that were not properly ported to SE. I only just started playing on SE last month, reason because it was just easier staying on LE and everything was working fine for me. Eventually though trying out SE was like playing a new game with other mods. I'm sure a new player might think AE is the way to go, but I suggest waiting 5 years before making the jump into that if ever. SkyrimSE modders are not in a hurry to convert everything into AE formats although there will be a lot of mods that will never need it, the script mods and SKSE mods will need adjustments.. Unofficial Skyrim Downloader https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/61756 When you purchase SkyrimSE this downloader helper will allow you to download old copies of SkyrimSE so you dont fall into the AE trap.
t.ara Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 Modding has probably two meanings: 1. you want to add mods of this page and then enjoy the gameplay 2. you want to create new mods and dive into the deep and make new content If you want to consume mods, you can install both games side by side and enjoy the mods. If you want to create new content, you can do the same and install both games, side by side and obtain your experiences, year by year. "You can/will go your own way" (F.M.) My personal tip: don ´t waste your time as a new content-creator with SKYRIM SE, you can install SE later if you have made your steps in SKYRIM
zwjb1212 Posted May 6, 2022 Author Posted May 6, 2022 Thanks everyone for your answers I will go with Special Edition as it seems the content wont be lacking either way and SE will be a better platform. By modding I do mean downloading mods, I do 3d modelling as a job but have never bothered with modding a bethesda game yet. Thanks again
