do not loot rapists and why all the men so fugly?

Recommended Posts

hi there. sorry to hijack a thread, but I would rather not start a whole new thread for something that might be cured in one...

If I need to, i will gladly, but i'd rather not clutter the forum up with the same issues

I'm playing fallout new vegas and I am having the same problem, but up until an hour ago, it was working fine.

the problem started after a cazador decided I was it's b!tch. as it lay unconscious, i put a .50 through it... but when I looted it, i automatically looted all... only to blink and realise that it still had all the 'DO NOT BUY OR PICK UP' items from the raep...

Now, feeling a total muppet, i've killed the darned quest because to finish the quest I'm doing, i need to do a NPC and unless I want to burn the image of my PC staring at them gormlessly, i need a bit of help...

Is there a way to deactivate these items (or remove them from the gameplay) so I can save it with them off, then re-activate to finish this quest?

Also, for some reason, I've recently discovered a texture issue. All the severed stumps of raider's necks aren't textured properly and all the male bodies are completely the wrong map! not to mention some of the raider ones... I'm not sure how to go about fixing this other than going and getting a clean version and picking the skins from that, or installing a replacer... before I screw my game up any more, i'd like to have a more professional oppinion

Like Hal said go back to a previous save, easiest solution. I also recommend getting CASM and setting the autosave frequency to 5-10 minutes, makes FNV a less stressful experience. :D

And as for the textures, without knowing what you have installed it's difficult to tell what exactly is causing it. But you can try toggling ArchiveInvalidation, installing any fixes your current male body has available and checking that your textures are for the correct body (Breeze/Robert).

The robert's male body that comes bundled with Sexout nowadays works just fine for me, without any effort on my part.

Go back to a previous save is your best bet, there is a quicksave & save game option that is very handy when running any mods.

sadly, since my game would occasionally crash without warning... I have an auto-saver device that saves me one every minute :(

basically means I can only ever loose a minute of gameplay (not in combat, menus or that...) in the event of 'poof an game gon...'

is there no other way? my last save is ages ago :( and was before I tranquillised my ranger-stalker who is immune to small-talk...

I didn't realise the game was busted... I've levelled three times, finished two quests and even managed to stop ranger ghost walking around and getting killed by following me for nookie (and not letting me talk to her)

I installed the BNB armours (just the meshes and textures), if that helps? I need to learn about archive invalidation I think... not sure what it is but it sounds bug-fixy...

That will not solve your issue, BUT:

In the future use CASM (on the Nexus). It will autosave for you, but on as many as 50 individual saves.

if i didn't have an auto-save thing already, i wouldn't be having the problem haha.

I'm using the time-o-matic (i recommend it) but when something like this happens... kinda screws up everything because my previous save was three hours before and i'd done a LOT.

Well, that's exactly why CASM is the best, since it automatically stores 20-50 incremental hard saves every five minutes (customizable), so you don't have to rely on one autosave or the occasional manual hard save. :)

i might look into it... but seeing as I can't really do much until this darned glitch is sorted, i can't use it yet.

I'd rather only have the one auto and use the hard-saves as proper road-marks... but because of me being a fool before, i accidentally forgot to load a mod and lost a LOAD of gear on the one save, had to go back and since then, i've had this problem. next thing that rapes me is game over.

sex is basically a game-ender now :(

Only Chuck Norris is able to rely on one autosave... ;)

There are numerous reasons for that generation of Bethesda games, that make the inbuilt auto-/quicksave function very unreliable. I don't know how the mod you use is working on a technical level, but if it just does the same as the standard options, than chances are that it might corrupt your savegames as well. As much as it hurts, I'd go back to your last proper working save, install CASM and replay.

the problem isn't the autosave. the problem is that I just want to get these things out of my inventory so I can carry on...

my current autosaver works like a charm. that's not the problem. the problem is that I need to get rid of these tag items from my inventory. I don't want to have to go back frag knows how many hours and loose all the work i've done... i've got to re-initialise all the new mods, re-do the settings of the old ones...

i've just re-installed the game after I broke it with smaller talk. i just want to know which mod gives me these tokens so i can disable it. make a new save from where I am. then re-activate and carry on

I'm not trying to be rude here, I'm just trying to help you avoid this kind of problem in the future. If you want to rely on one autosave on a heavily modified game, fine by me. Makes it that much harder to revert back to a previous save, if that is your only option though.

You might try this:

Look at the character with the offending items, go into the console, click on the NPC or yourself (in 3rd person mode), type "inv", note down the formid of the items you want to have removed, type in "removeitem formid x" with x being the number of items. Make sure the character is still selected while doing the removeitem command. If that fixes it, you might be able to move on, if not, there is unfortunately nothing I can help you with, other than telling you to revert back to an earlier save or do a clean save without sexout, which would mean you would only lose progress on the sexout plugins.

bla bla bla

the problem isn't the autosave.

Indirectly, it is. If you had CASM and 40 autosave slots with 5 minute intervals to rely on, you wouldn't even need to worry about solving this problem. You could've just reloaded the save CASM made for you 5 minutes before things went sour. And I'm not trying to be a dick here, just trying to save you from future headache.

edit: I might have misunderstood you earlier, and if so even CASM wouldn't save you from the lost gametime, FNV is a cruel mistress...

Ahh there you are zededd. Saw your post in Oblivion yesterday, but didn't see that you moved it here...

I agree with the CASM comment. I use it as well however sometimes you go on and on and on and on.. get the point.. :P and don't realize until much later that there is something screwed up. Something you picked up and/or did that messed things up. This is the case that the OP is mentioning. Regardless of how many saves or how close together they are there is still a massive amount of game that you have to go back and "redo".

That being said unfortunately if the remove instructions above don't work you will have to "go back" and "redo" again. That's the bad news. The good news is as you gain experience with the mods and game in general you will be more aware of the various issues and can keep an eye on them and not have such a big problem in the future. ...

cheers for the info. as useful as CASM seems... i don't need that many saves... every few days, i delete all but the most recent because i don't like having too many :s i know... foolish... but things were working (i thought)

that's possibly just the answer I was looking for :D Thank you very much... let me just have a go before posting this

took a LOT longer than I wanted to get that working... the console doesn't like Vista apparently...

not had much luck yet... might just go back to the old save, cheat like HELL to get everything and damn all my extra levels... just uninstal the blasted mods and be done with it.

not the kind of thing I want to be trying to fix when breaking up with my girlfriend...

GAH! Now ANY enemy comming at me with rape on it's mind crashes the game in an instant!

damn it!

[edit]

tried the console editing... did not work... the bodysuit i'm stuck with covers most the character so it took me ages to get my PC selected, then even longer to discover that it wasn't gonna work... i've reverted to a previous save after all and... RAAAR! anger, rage, annoyance... all the fun of FIVE levels back... now the game is screwing up even more :(

don't mind me, gonna go brain-splode s'mwhere... one epic crummy day!

[edit 2] sorry if i seem bitchy... i don't mean anything by it... i'm just getting through some stuff

OK... do I post a new topic or carry on this one for the new problem?

I've been looking around for a list of basic body-stuff... but can't find much information on what .nif's i'm meant to have and where... at least, not with the basic sexout install.

Now, the game just randomly crashes after loading the game for a moment...

sorry if I seem so unstable today....

No problem. I've been there and the prospect of losing so much progress, doesn't seem very appealing to me, either. All I wanted to do, is showing you, that there is a way for this not being necessary. Unless you have a very, very small hard drive I don't see any problems by having multiple savegames occuring at all. It's not that I'm getting paid for this or that there is anything in this for me or anyone else for that matter.

With that out of the way:

If you want to select yourself you can prefix the removeitem command with playerref (playerref.removeitem x y ; x=formID y=amount), if you have trouble with selecting yourself due to environment.

I have vista as well, I never had any problems with the console due to the OS.

With the new version of sexout come all armor fixes for breeze's male body replacer. In case you don't have or don't want to upgrade search the nexus for breeze and you'll find the armor fixes in the main breeze body replacer download. You can install that over anything without harm.

for some reason, there's a driver for some infra-red thing (a human interface device) that stops the ` key from working in-games. it has some significance to using controllers I think... as a result, i had to go forum-diving to find out why I couldn't bring up the console...

I've eventually just bitten the bullet, given up on that darned save and gone on another one... only to find that where I am now has me about one minute from an unexplained crash...

I'm using FNVEdit to see if there's conflicts... nothing. and i'm far too un-savvy to do much else so i'm just glaring at the icon in the hope my angst will burn away the technology gremlins and let me just shoot this blasted cazadore once and for all!

Link to comment

OK. random update to anyone having the same problems...

random crashing was 'fixed' by re-installing the game, mods and glaring REALLY hard at the icon.

Still not fixed the character meshing issue... noticed some strange empty spaces too, but i suspect that's more BNB than anything else...

Still trying to track down what's messing with these skins... but the game is once again PLAYABLE :D

Some people claim that cycling through Archive Invalidated works for issues like this. Perhaps try, it couldn't hurt. Those missing meshes and textures are because you missed some step. Did you fall the Installation Guide for Beginners link in my Sig? Then follow the instructions for non pregnancy SCR on the main page. Load each of the mod requirements in order as they are on the page. I find that helps the most. Don't really load much until you get the base working. Use FOMM for the loading this way you can reactivate the mod in different orders in case one is over writing the other.

Link to comment

I did. the guide in your signature was just what I needed to get it all going... but i always had this texture issue... I thought it was because of the cali stuff I installed... apparently not though :s

Luckilly, i think I have most of it working OK now... slight issue with one armour not showing up and the occasional body-texture (found a fix using a 'body controller' mod... also makes some of the BNB things work better with non-compatable preg-meshes...)

I've been using FNV Edit to bug-stomp for the most part, but I think archive invalidation is the next step...

'always read the instructions'. a darn fine bit of advice that I learned the hard-way a few mods back :s but yeah, good advice and I'll be extra-careful now i've got the game a-running again
