theboss50ae Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 So the lack of MFG commands is super annoying, as well as people getting stuck with their mouths open, So I want to revert to 1.8. Problem is that I can't seem to find an answer through google as to how to do so. I'm using a legitimate copy through steam. Anyone here done it?
Khiropter Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 i think the only possible way it to uninstall and reinstall if you don't have a backup of skyrim patched to 1.8. I have never tried so don't know
Deep Red Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 I hope you backed your saved gave files up as well before upgrading to 1.9 because you more than likely won't be able to use the current ones. I'm also toying with the idea of rolling back to version 1.8. Honestly the only thing which prompted me to upgrade was SexLab and Sanguine's Debauchery. I couldn't give a rat's ass about legendary skill or difficulty setting as there are already mods which uncapped skills and made the game harder. I agree though, seeing NPC's mouths stuck open and their eyes glued shut sometimes gets really fucking annoying. Before updating my game I had heard that the lip synch was thrown off as well but didn't think much of it. Seeing it for myself, holy crap wtf did Bethesda do to their game? ffs they break something new each update. If you own a legit copy of Skyrim, I don't see the harm in downloading the 1.8 version of the game off another source.

While it may be a solution why on earth should people be forced to use a mod just because Bugthesda's last update was a huge unnecessary clusterfuck?

Because clusterfucks are clusterfucks and this is the easiest way to deal with them. Bugthesda is done with Cryrim for now. We can overcome this.
Deep Red Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I've still got my fingers crossed that Bethesda will fix their crappy "update" by the end of this year at most, but I won't hold me breath on it either. It's too bad mods aren't backwards compatible..

It's too bad mods aren't backwards compatible.. Not even next generation consoles are backwards compatible so I guess it's not as easy as we think. I feel we have a 20% chance of any new update. And they better fix the difficulties.
D_ManXX2 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Don't be so quick to wish a for fix. they may fix one thing but then something else can break too. And this could be even more annoying then just a mouth open.. Maybe it is a better idea to fire these employee they have now hire some of blizzard entrainment atleast they know what is to make a fully stable and bug free game.

Simple answer, after you have upgrade you can't downgrade. Even after uninstall and reinstall. Not to argue, Ark. In most cases you would be correct. However, with Skyrim you can reinstall to 1.8 and play it, even after upgrading. You can also copy some of the old 1.8 files straight into the directory (over writing) and still run 1.8 (depending on compatible mods of course). Steam will throw up an error about it being the wrong version, and states the game won't run. It runs it anyway, from my experience, at my preferred version as well (I've stuck with the broken 1.9 lately because i'm just far too lazy to keep track of the details that would keep my entire install from failing).
