Blender Nif Scripts newb Question

Recommended Posts

Posted

I've been looking around forever, and am baffled to find nobody asked this question before.

My Nif Scripts installer likes to link me to Blender's dl page.

Blender ver 2.6.7.0

PyFFI ver 2.2.2

Python ver 3.2.5

Do I need to revert to an earlier Python? I gotta wonder why the hell the Nif Scripts Installer would link me to Blender's dl page...so annoying! Been tryin' for weeks to get this stupid Blender to read Nif scripts!

Ok, moving thread to Skyrim Section.  You'll be more likely to get a correct answer there.  I haven't dabbled much with blender and Skyrim so I can't help you.

You know I am not really sure on that, I have the newest version of Blender, Python & Blender .nif script & some how I can't seem to marry any of them together, although when I installed the older version of blender, Python & .Nif script everything worked great. I am sure there is a trick to getting the newest version of Blender to work with Skyrim but it's just out of my grasp, perhaps some of the Pro modders here could chime in on this one because I too would rather use the newest version of Blender.

Right? You'd think newer=better, not...obsolete!

You might have had the right info, though. If the newest versions can all be used, I'm sure someone here will know how to do it. If not, old as hell it is! I'm waiting for another reply before I go unistalling everything and getting ancient versions, though.

if you want to port a meshe to blender you need to have blender 2.49 with nifscripts      but there is a way with blender 2.59  notice that you have to install on 32 bit not 64  (skyrim not suported )  look here http://www.loverslab.com/topic/18775-blender-nif-scripts-newb-question/?do=findComment&comment=435144     or here  http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/817016-blender-nif-scripts-259-released/

@KingKong

I just want to thank you so much For Helping us on this, I still haven't figured it out yet personally, I think I have missed something in the installation process somewhere. I'll figure it out when I can devote more time to research this odd phenomenon.

I have never got it working on newer versions of Blender... however you can import the mesh you want to work with in Blender 2.49, save it, open in Blender  2.67 to sculpt, remodel, retexture when you are done you open/append the mesh in Blender 2.49, add the skeleton/copy bone weights, if needed, and export the nif.

Thanks Kha. I might just do that. Maybe. Looks like it's true though. Without the older versions of everything, there's no getting it to work. Which means I've marked Zquad1's post as the "best answer". The versions are listed there, and they are just what you need.

Sorry if it seemed like I didn't believe you Zquad1, but I just couldn't wrap my head around having to use really old versions of stuff to start an armor mod, but that's how it is. Boggles the mind.

In case you don't want to install all the extra libraries, there is a portable version of blender 2.49 with all needed plugins here: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/42755/?

Just download, extract and you're good to go. Not 100% sure, if there are newer better ways to import Skyrim .nifs than in FO3 format. If there are, just disregard this.

Maybe he didn't have permission to upload all of this in one package or something.

No, the Nexus seems to throw a fit again. Just went there and it loaded fine. Blender is open-source so no problem with permissions. Just wait a couple of minutes and try again. If you keep having trouble, shout out and I'll upload it here.

Tried again from 6 different servers. Same shit! The last time I tried, it gave me this old error:

I was hoping I'd never see that again. I'm fed up with Nexus. If it's not 1 thing, it's another. :@ F*** YOU NEXUS!!
