missing life stage in the game in general

so, I really made up my mind on that topic and I hope, that we can discuss this as adults here :D

I think, that the life stages within the game are not really correct and I somehow hope, that they will correct that in TS5 *lol

so, what I mean, that there is a gap between the "child age" and "teenage age".

- Newborns/babies and toddlers are totally fine - the behave and look like real humans do (like in a sim-lish way of course)

- children are like ok-ish, I would put them in a range of 6-10 years old IRL

- teenagers are totally out of the range they suppose to represent. Like the word says, they should be 10-19, which is totally out of my understanding. Ingame they can have a (half-time) job, they can have (most of the) adult traits, they wear adult clothes, have adult walking styles and are nearly as tall as adults. Total BS in my eyes. With these characteristics they should be in a real life range from maybe 16 - 22 (because let's be honest, when we were 22, we were not really grown up :D )

- young adults are hard to put into a real life comparison. Since the can have a full-time job or can go to uni, maybe the IRL range is 18-35 -ish?! I don't know. But in my opinion, they are good to go?!

- adults and elders are fine again, like 40-ish upwards, with no real transition, since IRL you can retire at 55 or 70 or what so ever :D

so, like for my understanding, there is missing a life stage between 10 and 16 (-ish), like not grown up, but not totally childish anymore, if you can understand, what I am trying to say :D

(it's really not that easy to talk about that tpoic, since english isn't my first language ^^ )

what do you guys think about this?

I think you are absolutely right, considering the type of game. It could have been structured in a better way since it doesn't have any great demands. Add to that the AI which leaves a lot to be desired in all aspects. In my opinion, it's a game that doesn't take off, if there was no WW (yay!!) you would spend your time being bored.

A lot has to do with game mechanics. In Sims 3, teen sims are 5% shorter than adult sims, which means you have to make a lot of animations for teens. By making teen sims the same size as adults in Sims 4, they eliminated re-making those animations for a shorter size.  It's the same reason why male and female YA/Adult sims are the same size in both sims 3 & 4.

And what would you do with a "young teen" life state? Not much marketable game play there.

yeah, but since it's a "Sim"ulation, it would make sense, in my opinion to have more real life life stages
and since it's EA, they could afford making more animations for more character hights, they just don't want to ;)

EA is busy making crappy games like Battlefield 2024 which they staffed with a lot of people. I expect that they'll suck the funding out of the Sims again to make up for the loss. Seriously, tho. What would you do with this new life state? Little too young to be WW, people protest already that the teen life state is too young, but 18-19 is teen. Squeezing in something younger, not much to do with WW imho, and if it did, EA already said they'd shut them down.

The sims 4 was supposed to be online only, so I imagine life stages were tacked on when they saw SimCity's online only failing so hard. This is why the life stages are the way they are, imo.

There is enough life stage, imo. What is laking is difference in people size maybe (people growing up, adult with different size), but most of games are using no/few size differences for the sake of game time/cost development. And it's not what Sims4 lacks the most.

I'd have to agree there should have been another size in between Child and Young Adult.

Teen sizes should have been different and aged from 13-17 IMO.

Along with having some specific traits & quirks made for teens only.

Young Adults should start at 18 since that's the RL age for ppl to join the military, vote, etc.

EA was just being Cheap as they didn't want to make all new animations for another size sim.

Top Management would never agree due to time and budget constraints.

But 'it is what it is' and nothing will change that now.
