INFINITE LOADING and SKYRIM NOT RESPONDING WITH SOUNDS after a bit of time in game.

Hi all

Recently i stumbled upon a problem when quick reloading my game. Indeed the game seems to be ALMOST loaded because i can hear the sounds but i see no image only a black screen.

I tried almost EVERYTHING and i suspect this is due to a shitload of armors mods i recently installed but but but....

i also seen that this problem happened after a autosave during clearing Bleak Falls Barrow... so i reloaded an auto after which F5 and F9 seems to work perfectly and disabled all autosaves.

So far.... i have no problems again with THE SAME SETUP ... but i wonder... what is this bug and how to resolve it more.... efficiently ?

If you don't have SKSE.ini into Skyrim data/SKSE .

in the given path, create a txt with these strings

[General]

EnableDiagnostics = 1

ClearInvalidRegistrations = 1

[Display]

iTintTextureResolution = 2048

[Memory]

DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB = 768

ScrapHeapSizeMB = 256

Check that you have the various fixes installed

 Quicksave/Quickload and autosave are playthrough killers. Use this: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/19399

It might be enough to solve the problem. If it isnt - it gets harder:

There can be a number of other reasons for such a problem. I used to have same issue when entering Arcaneum. Trial and error led me to reshuffling compablity patches between the two and Botox untill problem got solved. So if problem consistent and location specific - checking for load order  and reshuffling stuff might be enough.

 If the problem is floating - its much more problematic. Could be a bad mod causing save corruption.

 Could be something as banal as running out of memory. Hard to say.

Hello,

Like nilead said: Sometimes the amount of savegames cause the issue or a mod.

Take a look in your pc : C:\Users\"your name"\OneDrive ( if installed)\my documents\my games\Skyrim Special Edition\Saves

Try to delete or move some save game files and  especialy the autosave files.

Good luck.

Anecdotal here... I have 300+ mods. I've found that if I change a characteristic or add a new mod, I often get that symptom on first load of a save.

For me, it often takes two or three loads before I get a stable load, at which point all is well after a subsequent save. Dunno if it's a slow renderer or some other background processing skyrim has to do or what, but fwiw, try this before losing hope.

  1. kill skyrim using the task manager
  2. fire up skryim again and load the save (don't rush to load, skyrim can hog the CPU for a few second even after the menu comes up. give it ~10 seonds during this issue resolution)
  3. if it crashes again or freezes, kill skyrim and try again (step 1 and 2)
  4. more than  4 failed attempts....I generally backtrack on my latest install since I presume there's some contention.

to be clear, once I've gotten that stable load, I don't experience any more funny business on loads until I change something  again (fiddle with an ini file or something else, or install another mod)

Mine started after using the downgrade patch to avoid anniversary edition. I've deleted files from My Games, uninstalled mods, clean rebooted my computer, changed graphics settings, the works. Black screen still lasts for 30+ seconds after loading. That gets old fast.

What. Do. Please.

Agree with everything in this post.  Same experiences and I do the same things in response.

Hi :)

Well... thats exactly what i want to avoid. To kill SSE with task manager

Let me explain: in my case the kill SEE >> reload the culprit save from the main menu ALWAYS work. Game is up with no problem.

But once loaded... if i want to reload AGAIN this very SAME save (and following saves. Yes if i do save from this point problem is with all saves. Thats why i was yhinking about corrupted saves) ... it just won't :)

I hear the sounds but can't continue because of black screen and windowzzzz is crying about the app that stopped working.

I can't just play Skyrim killing the process everytime i want to reload. I know some people are hardcores... but that's pretty VERY HARDCORdE xD

If you re-read my comment, I was clear about the situation I presented. If it's your experience in your installation that it does not resolve the issue, then you have other issues to resolve. IN all likelihood some mod that should be uninstalled.

For me, once those two or three or four reloads has resulted in successful loading, and if I create a new save afterwards, the problem goes away for any future save loads until I cause it to occur again by a) installing some new mod, or b) futzing with some out of game config value or manually tweaking some preset or other editable characteristic.

For instance, I've been trying to fix a golden body issue.  I've narrowed it down to my character preset. When I alter that preset form from outside the game, the game chokes for a few loads. and then it doesn't. Until I tweak that preset outside the game again. If your problems aren't solved by doing what I suggested, then you have other issues you need to figure out. Sorry my *suggestion* didn't work for you. (if indeed you even tried it)  Got it?

Hey I was having this issue with hearing sounds and not loading, definitely a mod. Trying to remember which one exactly. Ill update you if I can remember. Off the top of my head I know the facelight mod causes CTD and loading issues if you have the *conversation facelight on*. If you have facelight turn that setting off and try your game . Like I said ill come back If i think of another one causing an issue, its been awhile.

Oh! Wait I think I remember exactly the mod that was doing that. Do you use the Familiar Faces se port? If so get rid of that, It broke all kinds of stuff. Use something like Lazy followers instead.

Hmmm... no facelight nor faces ports...

But i can narrow my problem to one thing. Yes i did installed a shitload of armors mods before the problem appeared and also few ones like Toccate the follower and Corruption form LoversLab.

I'll took off EvERYTHING and try again with a fresh new game and post here if it was abviously a mod problem. But i somehow feel it IS a mod problem. But i can't figure how to isolate it :(

Did that already and.... no... save is clean. At least for the 2 cats in Fallrim Tools which are obvious.

No, really. I have this impressions its a problem with one of the armor mods I installed from this page: https://modbooru.com/mods

Maybe something with the 4k textures...

Cool website but i downloaded like ...the half of 3BA collection and enabled it.  Soooooooo... it might be meh :)

Once again. This evening i will ...ONCE AGAIN... setup a new game and try with mods i already successfully gone to level like 40...

I ll let you now.

Tip...Stop downloading multiple mods and enabling them all and expecting things to work

One at a time, check game after, then if all is well, you can continue to install another, check, if all well next... etc

It's tedious, but it results in far fewer head-banging moments.

hahahhaha (friendly hahah) yeah. it's ok. We've all been there. I offer that advise (routinely) only because I burned myself with the practice early on, and because after I finally figured it out,  I've seen countless "OMG HELP PUHLEEEEEZE" posts from others who got themselves into a quagmire because they installed a large number of mods without checking in-between, not because I'm a mean-hearted prick.

best wishes.

Glad things seam to be working again.

I just lost faith :)
