How Can I restore a vanilla location to its original in a custom mod?

Hi,

I'm working on creating an inn.

There are two interior cells. One of them is a house, another one is the inn.

After several years, I was checking the "Cell View" window.

Next to the house and the inn that I created, there are "*" symbol. As I know, it means, the items that have that symbol, have been modified.

It's OK.

When I scrolled down, I noticed that next to the location named "Heartwood Mill", there is that symbol also. I found the object. It's "RiftenDoor02".

First of all, I've never been in Heartwood Mill at all. I don't even know where is that place.

:)

My question is:

Is there a way to restore "Heartwood Mill" to its original, without modification, without "*" symbol?

If you can help me anyway, I'll appreciate.

Nehaberlan...

Here is the screenshot. So, you can see the * symbol next to the Heartwood Mill.

Open your mod.esp in TES5Edit and search for the cell.

If you didn't do anything there intentionally, it's safe to simply delete the whole record tree there.

Make backups of course, if this is the first time for you to do such things. It's easy to destroy your work that way if you don't pay attention what you delete.

No harm will be done, if you have a backup

I selected "Apply filter for Cleaning".

It didn't allow me to clean Heartwood Mill, RiftenDoor02.

I select cleaning both in Skyrim.esm and my mod.esp.

When I open Tes5Edit 3.2.1 again, it's still in there.

The location and the door are still signed modified.

News...

Idiot me, after Removing all "Skyrim.esm", I couldn't open the mod in the Creation Kit.

Then, I opened an older my mod.esp that has the same problem in TES5Edit.

I noticed that the same object and the cell are in my mod.

At this time, I was successful to delete/remove the Heartwood Mill * and RiftenDoor02 * from my mod.

After that, I could get a back-up and OK notice in the TES5Edit.

Then, I opened the mod in the Creation Kit.

Here is the screenshot:

Thanks a lot...

Here it is the TES5Edit screenshot:

Oh dear. You better read up first. And pay more attention to what we write here:

a) you NEVER clean Skyrim.esm. And you better don't do anything else with this file. NEVER EVER!

-> Restore it clean from Steam or your install media

b) My suggestion has nothing to do with "cleaning". That's a different procedure with a different intention.

c) I suggested that you DELETE your edit in YOUR mod with T5Edit.  Nowhere else. And only this single edit.

d) You have an outdated T5Edit

There are some good written or youtube tutorials how to use Tes5Edit. Personally I recommend Gamerpoet or Gopher to get started.

Thanks for the tips.

I watched the GamerPoets tutorials about TES5Edit.

Yeah, after that, I was successful to remove it without using "Apply Filter for Cleaning" by using TES5Edit 4.0.4

My poor English...

Sorry about that. I can misunderstand.

After making the mistake and your notice, I got the message.

I have a question...

There is "quickclean" mode in TES5Edit right now.

As I remember, LOOT wants cleaning for the DLC .esm files.

But, Dawnguard.esm requires manually cleaning.

Manual Cleaning Skyrim and Skyrim SE Master files

In the tutorial, it says:

"3. Right click the plugin after you get the "Background Loader : Finished" message, and choose "Apply Filter for Cleaning"

GamerPoets' [Archived] How to Remove Dawnguard Wild Edits [Update linked]

, at the background, you can see that notice too. I remembered that notice. However, in the tutorial he uses the newer version of TES5Edit, and doesn't use "Apply Filter for Cleaning" option.

For that reason, I selected that option on my mod.

I shouldn't try to select that option on Skyrim.esm

Roger, roger... :)

These tutorials are great. Just for me. For dummies!!!

:D

Cheers...

"Cleaning" is a completely different procedure with a different intention.

Don't mix or confuse that with your intention to delete an acciental edit.

Keep both concepts seperated in your mind.

"Cleaning" addresses 2 types of accidental edit mistakes : so called ITMs and UDRs

Your accidental edit is most likely of a 3rd type and can't be "cleaned"

But it can be fixed with the steps that I described above.

Indeed. It's full of ITMs and UDRs. It's the same with the other DLCs.

Bethesda didn't pay attention and never felt the need to fix them. Because it's not disturbing them.

But it's a very likely source of annoying behaviour or CTDs if you play with mods.
