Oh man you ain't kiddin'! They missed a ton of replay/longevity profits there imo. Blowing shit up and seeing how many different ways your toon can die gets old really fast after you've played the main story and explored the map. Skyrim, for instance, is still making Blehth good profits to this day because of it's modding community. I really thought this concept would catch on, but it hasn't it seems since even they seem determined to kill what has worked so well for them up till now.

Maybe I grew up with city builders, sandboxing to me just means "Here's an empty area & here are the things in the game, now do whatever".
Like, I was trying to establish a sex robot colony in Surviving Mars. The game didn't meant for me to do that but I did it anyway because I just feel like it. Although, I wish I knew the stupid game will have a terrible logic. Because the human tourists from earth decided to bang each other & left their children behind, so my robot colony is ruined by the flesh bags.

Not giving up, I've decided to introduce a new cuisine to the earthlings, cannibalism! I just wish there are quicker ways to kill off the humans, though. They reproduce faster than I can kill them.

Yes, which is why when I downloaded the MCM (increased size) I picked the option that said (I mod more than I play Skyrim).

 

If you are testing new mods, a mod I always include is Alidons Armory.  It is really rich and helps leveling, there are minigames, chests galore, and a Sovngarde room with all major NPCS  (for, say, testing "immersive animations" )
