sophiextime Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 I set my skyrim SE to ony update on launch. its is SET to that. I have not even once tried to launch it from Steam. i launch it from my SKSE. I just turned Steam on and my Skyrim has updated to this new fucking shtty piece of crap update!!! WTF STEAM!!!! Does ' Only update the game when i launch it ' mean update it when i DONT launch it!!! FUCK YOU STEAM AND FUCK YOU BETHESDA.
pinkfluf Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 eeek I set mine to update at a certain time when I know I'm not on the pc. Seems to work (I think).
sexcapades Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 The new "anniversary" update will screw your game up. I copied SkyrimSE.exe from a backup. There is also a dll file (bink2w64.dll) that needs the old (binkw64.dll) to get the game to launch. It seems to be running OK.

I have lost my backup of the exe, can you share yours? the strange thing is that there is a SKSE version for AE which is already outdated.
BRANDNEWMEMBER777 Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 This may help in some cases. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/57618?tab=files&file_id=240560

Algene Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 People will call me crazy but there is a reason I purchased skyrim and then play a pirated copy.
ReverendFelix Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 I do a work around to have my SkyrimSE in c drive, as having it in program files/x86 can cause issues. So what I do is launch the SKSE while offline. Steam fires up and then I start it in offline mode, and click OK to the warning. Then I can fire up SSE with SKSE no problem. Otherwise if connected to the internet, Steam tries to re-DL SSE. Yeah fuck Steam and it's invasive BS. Not to mention having the Steam overlay active kills your computers ability to run SSE smoothly. What is the point? It's a single player, off line game. Edit; The point is, Steam can't touch my game using this fire up method.
Martianman Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Check this thread: Someone posted a link of the previous build, 8GB or so. I'm going to try it out when it finishes downloading.
Toucanyoucan Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 this was my panicked solution when some kind of pre-patch hit on saturday, I think it still works, but only if it's still just the exe that changed

I do the same thing. As a matter of fact I'll one up you. I own two copies of LE and two copies of SE on two separate steam accounts. but play on a CODEX cracked version. I love gaming but hate steam passionately.
