Help i got the skyrim anniversary update

Thanks for ending my "screaming into the pillow" moment.  Steam in its azzhattery auto updated SSE, no prompts, no alerts.  I was livid for the past hour.  Thank you STEAM for your generous force feeding of content without an updated script extender avail.   Benchmark rollout protocol.  Slow claps sarcastically.   Dear Steam, et al, Next time I want something up my backside, ask for consent or I will sue you for such a pervy personal violation.  ? (rant over)

Dear Lovers Lab,

A sincere thanks to the LL community.  Seriously.  This was the first place I came for a solution.

Between Nexus and Steam BS, I would not play modded Skyrim anymore if not for you.  You Rock and all deserve awards for common sense, hard work and creativity.

1. Backup all your Skyrim SE files(all along with the folders)
2. Delete the game via Steam
3. Place all the Skyrim SE files to where it was. Of course, manually. Do not install the game via Steam.
4. Open MO2 and play game. Happy.

OR

deleting appmanifest_489830.acf from Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\

and no longer update

i think you can set your skyrim to update when i launch the game on steam to avoid that aswell and disable background updates. i took all the steps so this doesn't happen again

If the PC reboots due to windows update or other things then it will still sometimes update even with this set up, it has happened to me on a couple of games previously.

Steam, much like Windows, will occasionally reset your settings. I had cloud saves off, then one day I couldn't load my skyrim vr. Turned out that steam had turned cloud saves back on and replaced my save with one that was 2 weeks old. I had to start over after a few days of troubleshooting mods that didn't need troubleshooting.
