Guest Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 This is not the first npc with many lines of dialogue I'm doing. I always use the same procedure and I double checked it but I can't find why this time it looks different. You veterans already addressed me very kindly the issue of placing numbers on the IDs (00xxxxxx) and it was great, and I never use them anymore. I feel in this case too there's something I did that screws my GECK just like in that previous question. My issue is this: sometimes (and I can't find why or when it decides to do that, it's absolutely random) when I have choices to choose on a dialogue, in game I see the choices ID and not the correct text line. I really can't get it. I have at least 6-7 cases like that in this whole new dialogue. I really, really can't understand why this happens. I put a picture since I'm aware I explain very bad sometimes. http://www.mediafire.com/view/lgvb68rdwu2hxd2/dialogue.jpg The one circled in red is what it should point to the red x on the left, but instead of showing me the corresponding text string it shows me its ID aapSowhy etc. Notes: - I always use Choices, never Topics, it's a ... choice I made - It seems it doesn't depend by how long is the ID itself (I'm trying to figure anything), since I have longer IDs that work - I checked if for some reasons I used the same ID in a previous dialog, with some other npc, since I use that aaPstartofthesentence as ID. I didn't. - The first time it happened was when I changed the Topic Title on top, hoping it could change the wrong ID I gave it, but since it wasn't happening I simply replaced it again with the previous Topic Title (that corresponds to the ID, I notice). But on the other cases I didn't do it. It also happens when I have, for example, 3 choices in a row: the first and the third are ok, the second one shows the ID... I said "the first time happened when I changed the topic title etc." just because it's the only different thing I did in this case, but I wrote the whole dialog before testing it in game, so I can't exactly say "it happened when I etc." - I'm copying/pasting from written notes I did outside the GECK... grrrr I hope this isn't the possible issue *lol* Any one knows why and when this happens? Thank you
BruceWayne Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 It would have been helpful to see the dialog that fails as well... Anyway: Do you have a prompt that overwrites the topic ID? Does aaPSowhywere have some sort of condition that would prevent the NPC from saying it? Are any of the "say once" or "say once a day" boxes ticked and prevent you from accessing that dialogue? Do you use the same topic ID in a different quest? Can't think of anymore.
DoctaSax Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Just conditions or sayonce barring the topic line would just revert you to top-level, so there's probably a blank line for that topicID elsewhere. (Or this could just be something in your game save itself having something left over from before you made a change, possibly but less likely.) I always use Choices, never Topics, it's a ... choice I made It's the right one too, always.
Guest Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I think double checking isn't enough if first I don't learn how to do things... They all were wrong conditions, you both were right! I just should stop to put conditions following what the feelings tell me... Thank you for your answers, I wish you all a good day!
