Female characters disappear during sex, bug out afterwards

I had a long day and it's late (CET zone), I'll reload the full load order and then spawn all kinds of creatures and humans to test how this works, if at all.

-I did a solid recap. Looking at papyrus log I think pointed to a different problem you are having unrelated to females not acting right during sex sometimes. 

 

-I think the big clue was in your first post, so sorry, and that clue is it happens sometimes. If your skeleton is not right then sex should never work. 

 

 

I think overwrite folder shit got you, we can fix that. I would start with fixing sls mcm cause this should be easier fix. 

 

Im gonna do some quick research,and reach out to another user and get back to you. If you can identify any mods you created from stuff that generated to overwrite which had come from the mods that SLS has as requirements that would be helpful

Well, at least someone has some ideas. I've been trying to disable / enable different mods, nothing helped, if anything the more mods I disabled, the worse it got...

Tested out sex scenes too... it's so inconsistent. Sex scenes with monsters tend to work, I think it only glitched out once. Sex scenes with human(oid) males always go the same way: my character disappears and bugs out, male NPCs are fine. Sex scenes with other females is a crapshoot. My character usually bugs out, but the female NPC seems completely random if they bug out or work normally.

Also, a new version of SUM (Skyrim Utility Mod) came out just now, so I figured I update to that, thinking that maybe, by some miracle it'll solve things... it made it worse. Now DDE is refusing to work because it doesn't recognize this version of SUM... I can just reinstall the previous version of SUM and call it a day, but... yeah, wasn't my day.

About the overwrite file: I only have one overwrite file, as I deleted the previous ones. To my understanding the only things that generate meaningful stuff in there (so, not shit like SKSE crash logs) are bodyslide and FNIS. Which I always run one after the the other, just in case, then save to a new overwrite mod, then delete the old one. It is possible that another mod wrote something in the overwrite folder, that I saved in a mod, then deleted it when I ran FNIS + bodyslide the next time, but if that was the case, I'm fucked since I'm unaware which mod would do this, so I have absolutely no idea where to even start fixing it.

Lots of mods generate meaningful stuff in there. If you delete this, those mods start like level 1.

Then how do I deal with it? Just keep generating new overwrite files over and over? Create one and use the "merge" option every time?

The reason I did it this way, is because I figured that if I rerun FNIS / bodyslide every time I do a mass update / mod install (which happens like twice a year maybe), then I'll have all the new stuff in the new overwrite mod, so having multiple will just be confusing later...

I have made of the overwrite 1 mod. Named OV "character name".

This stays for the whole play. From time to time I check the overwrite for important stuff.

If something is there, I copy over this the the char overwrite. 

SL exports, racemenu stuff and much much more is in the overwrite. Those mods

access then this mod for this character. Second char, new mod "name" , deactivate

other characters specific overwrite.

Then the real overwrite contains mostly non important stuff. So it's easy to backup this on a new Fnis run etc.

and restore if somethibg wents wrong.

Well, this went to shit on a new character, but I get you. In retrospect, I was a moron for deleting the old overwrite mods. I mean, I already dated them, I knew which was the newest one. I should have just deactivate the old one, and then now I would have access to it and could solve this issue. But, yeah, easy to be smart in hindsight...

But as is? Yeah, this is increasingly looking hopeless. To really know what exactly is broken, I'd need to know what I removed, but since I deleted the old overwrite, I have no way of checking, so... this is like finding a needle in a haystack...

Well, at least I know what's the problem. Learning from my mistakes and all that...

This is what I do, but I never create a new mod, I merge into parent mod. 

 

exp. Fnis, you run fnis and you get I believe 3 folders and 2 txt files? anyways the first and ever time I run fnis I open overwrite in MO, and I drag and drop into parent mod(Fnis Mod folder in left window of MO)

 

 

-I want to get your SLS ;mcm wrkng. We need to reinstall the 3 requirements and then SLS itself. 1st I want to confirm on my end what we are expecting to get generated to overwrite with the 3 dependencies plus SLS. When we go through this process generated files will just be dumped into parent mod.

Reinstall/Update those 3, Remove old ones or rename new ones and uncheck(left window)old ones. Go into game, save load and come back out of game, you should get Simple Knock Skse folder in overwrite,Open folder from with in overwrite,poke around you'll see that it for simple knock mod. After opening folder from with in overwrite MO is now like Fuck You, you cant drag and drop, its so stupid, you have to close overwrite and reopen it to drag and drop into parent mod. This is probably why a lot of users dont do it, they get a folder in overwrite and look at it, figures out where it should go and MO says no and just wont fucking do it, until you close and reopen overwrite. So, after you poke around and close and reopen go ahead and  drag and drop it into Simple knock mod(left window) And you can do this with current save, no need for new game were not testing just getting something for simple knock generate. When the game doesnt see the file it will generate new one, if it doesnt generate file than you have that file in an skse folder somewhere in your LO, that wont be any problem to identify. 

 

 

After you do that......

 

 

Reinstall SLS

 

Close MO and reopen then go into game and test on new game, couple minutes in AltStart holding cell you should get SLS mcm

 

-Make sure you get LE mods,

Do any actors vanish after KomAnimations? KomAnimations are extra long so make sure you rise the time in SL until scene changes. Also make sure Apropos2 doesn't interfere by jumping back SL animation stages

 

 

What is your HDT source? Do you use AIO-HDT-P to install bodyfiles? If not you need a HDT source.

Is it installed right? Wetfunction will add overlays to actors, unless those are missing (but I guess you get just pink actors instead of invisible ones)

 

Make sure you have enough overlay slots active in nioverride.ini (default is 3/bodypart)

Reinstalled Simple Knock and PapyrusUtil using your renaming method... normally I would have just installed them from their respective folder, used the same name and selected "replace" when asked, but not this time, I followed your way. As for UIE, I had never installed that one before, now I have.

As for the skse file... I did what you said, but nothing was generated in the overwrite folder. I did find an SKSE Plugins folder with simplyknock.dll and StroageUtil.dll in it. This folder was in the Simply Knock directory. I checked the original .zip file, the mod comes with these two files. If something else should be generated... well, that didn't happen.

Anyway, I reinstalled SLS, restarted MO and then started a new game. SLS MCM is now active and fully functional, so, yay. That's something.

On an unrelated note, I noticed in the character creation that among the races, Breton is featured twice. Checking that out revealed that there's the normal race... and a weird one that has a different facial structure and no body mesh (just a floating head), crated by TreasureHunterWhore.esp. Not related to anything, but figured I mentioned, since it's quite a weird phenomenon.

Do any actors vanish after KomAnimations? KomAnimations are extra long so make sure you rise the time in SL until scene changes. Also make sure Apropos2 doesn't interfere by jumping back SL animation stages

 

 

What is your HDT source? Do you use AIO-HDT-P to install bodyfiles? If not you need a HDT source.

 

62 3e     WetFunction.esp => make sure you got all needed files/updates/patches for it

Is it installed right? Wetfunction will add overlays to actors, unless those are missing (but I guess you get just pink actors instead of invisible ones)

 

Make sure you have enough overlay slots active in nioverride.ini (default is 3/bodypart)

 


 

Answering your notes on my LO in order of appearance:

Skyrim - Utility Mod.esm - installed the patch. I did not have UIE before, but on HoneyCortch's advice, I've installed it now, so I got the patch too.

 

notice board - Possible, I don't know... that one is from this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/70142 It's old, never had any issues with it before.


UI Extensions - Nope, I just never used that mod before.

 

Captured Dreams - Oh, nice catch, it was overwriting a couple DD files... that probably explains some bugs I got with them. Moved it on the priority list so now it doesn't overwrite anything. Honestly, I should just stop using this one. I mostly have it for the debug interface, if I'm being honest. Having a quick option to change in-game time scaling, eanble / disable controls and reset player idle animations proved to be REALLY helpful and I don't know any other mod that has those.

 

Wetfunction - Double checked, everything is installed, and the last time I checked, it worked. In my last run it started to bug out in the end, but that was probably due to the, by then, horrendous script lag. (Just for reference, sometimes I had to wait for like 30 seconds or more for an animation to start, sometimes the audio of stuff like my steps or picking a plant was delayed by 10 seconds or so and so on, this always happens with old saves.)

 

Sexlab Utility Plus / AKSkyrimUnderground- I'm assuming LAL means Live Another Life? Not quite sure what does that one has to do with either of these mods, but I modified the LOOT entry for Live Another Life to be loaded after these two.

Simply Knock - Checked, it doesn't overwrite anything.

zzEstrus - Oh, so this is what added those weird spells and shit... how didn't I notice this earlier? Well, deactivated now, nice catch.

EstrusChaurus - Well, in the LO it is. In the left window both EstrusForSkyrimV240 and SLSO Estrus Chaurus+ v4.346 overwrite it. I'm not sure if that correct, I feel that Estrus Chaurus should overwrite EstrusForSkyrimV240, maybe?

 

Devious deviants - Oh, that's a leftover I forgot to uncheck after an update. Removed.

Simply Knock should of generated some stuff, looks like maybe some json files. Im guessing you have them in another mod folder. Install this TestMod into MO, and see if anything in your LO is touching it other than SimpleKnock. The file can easily be remove/deleted, it is my SKSE folder from Simply Knock mod, which has the 2 dll plus another folder with some json. Most logical explanation as to why your MO didnt get files generated to overwrite for new Simple Knock mod is cause it was already seeing them. Having the your initial Simply Knock mod unchecked would of prohibited the game from seeing them when going into game with the new simply knock.

I thought about this today, When some animation work and some dont, some/most animation have bounce to em', I had bounce in my game before I got to sex stuff and have never really known what would happen with bounce induced animations if females,themselves, dont have their bounce set up. 

 

Definitely need to get your bounce right.

Thats funny, Sounds like mod accidentitly referenced Breton race, or it is using that duplicated Breton race for it use, and then didnt mark it as unplayable. We'll look at that in soon time

Bad HDT related installation can cause actors to vanish. Sadly I'm clueless of CBBE, because I had struggled longwith UUNP already because of the HDT stuff.

Maybe you can find hints here?

With MO you have a tool at hand that gives you much better overview in that regard. I work with a combination of guts feeling and dogma (that combo would make me a great communist leader or imperial republican ?)

That's why I would move the TES5edit patch to the end of the LO. Or is it a mod merge? Confusing ?

Overwrite 2021.10.12 (That's October 12th, obviously, the Hungarian date order is always from the largest unit to the smallest, so I'm used to date things this way.)

Exact conflicts: 

StorageUtil.dll (also present in Simply Knock 1.0.8., SexLabFramework v162 FULL and PapyrusUtil 3.3)

profile1.json (overwrite)
Common.json (overwrite)
simplyknock.dll (Simply Knock 1.0.8., obviously)

I moved the two .json files from the overwrite mod to Simply Knock and deleted the test mod afterwards.

Well, I got linked the guide below. Seems very in-depth, complicated and time-consuming, so, I'll try to follow that in the evening, once I'm done with woodchopping for the day. (Need to heat up the fireplace with something after all :P) I have a feeling that it'll b dark outside by the time I'm done if I start now...

That's deactivated, actually. It's a remnant of a botched attempt. Basically, SLS states that a TESEdit is pretty much necessary for the bikini armor stuff to be properly included in lootlists and in the inventory of merchants. From what I understand lootlist and merchant list modifications overwrite each other via the load order. So, you have to makes merged patch of inventory modifying mods so that they can all affect the lists, instead of the last one in the load order taking priority over all. Previously this wasn't an issue for me, since most mods that modified lists circumvented this (like Cursed Loot doesn't modify lists by default, it instead runs a script upon opening a container to modify it on the fly). So, I I did a merged patch of everything that modifies items and lootlists... and it was a complete mess. CACO ingredients with vanilla ones showed up. Originally overwritten equipment showed up, except they didn't work and just got stuck in my inventory... and so on. So I ended up removing this edit from the list. Now bikini armors fill up pretty much every chest, overwriting almost every other equipment that should show up, while they never show up in merchants, but... well, it is what it is.

these 2 files could/should be in your simple knock folder in MO/Mods/SimplyKnock/SKSE/Plugins/SimpleKnockData      similar to my test mod.

My understanding is this file found in 3 mods are all the same file so its no problem

Well, followed the link to the nexus and followed the entire guide there.

Good news: jiggle physics work now, yay.

Bad news: didn't help my original problem.

I did quite a bit of testing. NPC-on-NPC scenes work, pretty much always. Female NPCs seem to work too, at least none of them ever disappeared from a scene for me now. My own character on the other hand... the first scene I do after I load in a save usually went okay. Usually. But then, the same bug shows up.

I reloaded the same save over and over, used the SexLab Animation Editor to force start the Missionary animation with the exact same male NPC. Sometimes the bug only showed up on the 3rd time I started the animation, sometimes right on the first try. With the location, NPC and animation being all the same I have no clue what causes the variation. what I know for sure is that the issue is the initialization: once the animation starts, it runs to completion without a hitch, it NEVER bugs out mid animation. Also, the issue isn't in any specific, more complex animation pack: I specifically used the default Missionary animation.
