Custom Eyes Are not Showing Up

I have a umber of eyes installed but I've noticed only a few show up when creating or editing characters. Default replacment eyes work fine it's the non-default replacement eyes that are the problem, for example I have Remus Sirion's beast eyes installed but none of them show up. I've noticed other eye mods I have installed seem to have partial functionality but apparently some of the eye options are missing for them as well.

I think it really depends on how they're tagged and also what CAS parts they're using. For instance; if these eyes are only tagged for Everyday, you won't see them show up when you're editing other outfits. It's easy enough to check them in Sims 4 Studio and tag them properly.

Incorrect or missing tags is pretty common with a lot of CC. I always make a habit of checking everything I download.

I'm trying to get them to show up for a vampire character. I'm not sure what tags I would need for that. I have messed with them some but haven;t had any luck. I think they probably are marked wrong, I just don't know how. I know one of the mods looks like its trying to run two different swatches through each eye, which is a difference from one of the mods that does work.

They may not be tagged as available for Vampires. I tried Googling Remus Sirion's beast eyes and didn't get a hit as I was going to download it and see what was going on.

You can PM me the file and I'll take a look at it for you.

Might not be a bad idea to check you default eyes and make sure they aren't tagged for Vampires too.

I always assumed defaults would override non-defaults next time the game loads.

So I tend to avoid using any defaults for that reason.

I do use default overrides and the ones that I use have three separate package files for Base game, Get To Work (Aliens) and Vampires. It's most likely because the game uses three separate eye types for Humans and the two Occults.

Overrides behave differently than Non-Default.

Overrides just target the game's eye textures. Think of Non-Defaults as more like 'contact lens' that you put on in place of glasses. The overrides will still be used but your contact lens are worn over them and stay that way any time you load the game.

That doesn't mean that the non-default eyes use the Glasses slot as they can be slotted to use anything. I'm just providing a real-world example of how they behave.

Because of that, non-defaults are different in that they have to be properly tagged to be made available for all Races (where applicable) and all outfits.

When I hunted for non-default cc eyes I remember seeing them listed as 'contacts' so that makes sense.

But I was also concerned about default eyes making all my sims in game have the same eye color.

IDK much about them.

You can use both. The nice thing about have some great looking overrides is that you don't have to assign non-defaults to every sim in the save and occasionally let the override define that sim's look. If you want to change it up, assign the non-default over them.

Might have to give it a try sometime.

Right on. It basically just eliminates the 'mandatory' nature of having to apply non-defaults to every sim in the game to avoid EA's defaults.

I see why I didn't get them to come up when I searched Google. The search comes up under 'Remussims'.

I just checked them and as I suspected, they're missing tags. I've updated them and I'll be testing them out in-game in a moment.

They're also located under Piercings for the left and right brow.

I'll PM you the updated files after I make sure they're okay.
