Shadowbroker3495 Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Look at CBBE 3BA mod on Nexus site. There is a list of required mods. Download and install all of the required mods (hint: Caliente mod is a must for CBBE setup). BodySlide mod is also missing. You have to build bodies and armors in BodySlide. Otherwise they will most likely be invisible. It is recommended to find a BodySlide guide online. It is not difficult to use but not a 1-click operation either. In addition, i don't see any skin mods in your list. Several skin mods to pick from. A matter of taste which one is best. (Demoniac, Diamond, TBD etc)

Check settings in BodySlide that Game Data Path is correct and Reference Skeleton looks something like "res/skeleton_female_sse.nif". Also verify in Data Files selection window, that BSA texture files are selected. CBBE mod is being loaded rather late. Try to load early after ESM plugins.

The Ref skeleton looks good, I think the game data path looks good, it goes to /data. Loading cbbe earlier didn't seem to do anything.

When build is complete, a small popup window should show path (should be .../Data/meshes/actors/character/character assets/femalebody_0.nif and femalebody_1.nif). Just to eliminate this possibility. More strange is that it affects both vanilla race and my custom race chars, which should use separate mesh/texture files! vanilla folder mesh is Skyrim Special Edition\Data\meshes\actors\character\character assets and textures also in vanilla path with 3BA-body and Diamond Skin textures, dunno what custom race uses but those are separate, or should be. used to be ok week ago, but after messing up one texture file (femalebody_msn.dds), all my chars seems affected.

In my example I messed up ONE texture file (for vanilla race), and after that I have this issue on all characters (custom and vanilla race), no matter how many times I re-install textures. Any help how to fix issue like this in Outfit studio/Bodyslide/Nifskope would be helpful.

What's community overlay? Is there a possibility that Vortex has copied and keeps the issue somewhere (mesh/texture/bodyslide asset) since I have tried to make changes directly to /data folder, even removed __folder_managed_by_vortex-file to check if it helps (have not found out what exactly makes this seam so hard to pinpoint the file...). Is this "seam" caused by skin-weight (some old report) or normal map (femalebody_1_msn.dds or femalebody_msn.dds) or something else, seam is really weird as it basically follows lines of one-piece swimsuit.

So you probably did more than just replacing textures. When you are going to make a simple change, why not make a simple back up? I mean come on. Do you have updated mods? Does it also happen without body textures? Does it happen on cbbe body too? If so then I'd suggest to delete and reinstall. Delete everything, textures, body and bodyslide. Reinstall bodyslide and see if it still happens on normal cbbe. Ps: if you use SOS make sure to clean all outfits from SOS settings in MCM before reinstalling.

I have tested out different textures without issues (vortex install and uninstall and replace), but now issue came and sticks, what I meant by "out of nowehere". Usually reverting to earlier mod texture should had worked on Vortex, as per usual. if it would be as simple as reinstalling new textures, or reinstalling Bodyslide / 3BA, this would had been fixed already. None of these "fix" this, and more problematic is that when I "experimented", textures were changed to \Data\textures\actors\character\female, now it affects all custom races also (they should use different file paths). Though not certain if uninstalling via Vortex is "permanen"t, if it leaves these backup folders and files and files with this issue is again activated when installing mod again? My guess is that I added a texture-file to wrong folder (was supposed to go custom race with its own textures), as i think i noticed isse after that, but why would issue continue even after changing files back as they used to? I do keep backup folder for meshes and textures, i replaced the wrong file manually, I saved changes in Vortex as it prompted me. Issue happens on CBBE (3BA), but have read this bug happen on UUNP also. Never, ever read about a solution or easy fix, or what causes this. Like on OP who made this thread. Because you didn't change the files back that needed to be changed back maybe? That is, maybe when you made those original changes that screwed up your texture and or mesh (presumably using NIfskope or outfit studio, since afaik Bodyslide won't break textures or meshes) you made the changes to something else that's the *actual problem. I replaced the file back from backup folder, seam was there (in bodyslide-view and in-game). Seam even appeared on that custom race somehow (and that texture dds file was meant for it, not vanilla) which makes this weird logic. After that have reinstalled textures via Vortex (did not help) and replaced them manually (nothing works), makes even less sense if it truly is one damn dds file that apparently caused this. Anyway, it was just my guess, don't know what was done by OP and Modsszzz , but apparently nobody knows what exactly causes this and how to fix it.

yorpers Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 (edited) To help explain to people why this is a thing I took a couple extreme close ups. The first shot shows the actual seam in the mesh. You can see that it is not actually completely flush to the texture because that is almost impossible to do. The second shot shows why that band of skin exists. The #1 is the seam showed in the first image with less zoom. The number 2 looks like another seam, but it is not. The number 2 is blended skin texture that creates a buffer zone between the skin close to the seam and further away. This creates the effect of the band of skin that some textures have. It is probably done with a cloning tool or healing tool in photoshop so it isn't perfect. The people making skin textures probably don't try and work on it further because of the time and effort it takes to blend things one brush stroke at a time. My seams are more noticeable because I use a custom normal map that is pretty imperfect so its pretty easy to illustrate what you are looking at because that makes the seams worse. Different lighting plays a huge effect on it too so they might not even see it in game themselves. picture 3 is zoomed out in lighting conditions where it is barely noticeable. This can happen with any skin and any body type, not just cbbe base bodies. It can be from a mesh alignment issue or a general texture issue. This quote is taken from fireapple gaming from one of their skin mods.(the one I use) It is talking about wrist and neck seams but it appleis to this too. Spoiler "Why can I still see a wrist or neck seam sometimes? Let's talk about seams... Baby... Let's talk about ENB... Let's talk about lighting, shadows, and meshes with CBBE... let's talk about seams! Soooo... welcome to Skin Textures 101 The CBBE body mesh (like most body meshes) is in four different pieces (body, feet, hands, head). Not only that but each piece is 'UV unwrapped'... the same way one would do if their '3d model' was a gift and the 'Texture' the wrapping paper. When you put that wrapping paper back around your gift it creates seams where the edges connect and sometimes have to stretch into place. The most problematic examples can best be seen on the back of the head, the hips, or in the crotch of the body where there is a confluence of edges coming together. The UV wrap seams can be mitigated almost entirely with enough attention to detail but the separate body parts are another matter entirely. The four body mesh pieces do not overlap, nor is there a seam hiding mesh like is utilized in some other games like CP77. That means that the textures do not overlap one another at the seams, the mesh vertices actually do not connect. When working closely enough with the body you can see right through the seams (cracks or gaps) in the mesh. This is not something that can be fixed with textures alone... as texture artists all we can do is to try our very best to hide them, but we cannot eliminate them entirely. In order for a texture set to properly hide mesh seams the Diffuse (color) maps, Normal (bump) maps, Specular (gloss) maps, and the Sub-Surface (translucence) maps all need to be working in tandem. Every detail and tone needs to be distributed exactly across all 4 textures or you will get seams, the easiest to recognize are discrepancies in the specular and normal maps. I assure you that I have taken the greatest care in hand painting and distributing seam fixes across all 4 textures as well as optimizing the specular levels for best results, my work here is done! All that said... certain poses will still show slight seams as the different pieces deform even slightly apart from one another causing a shadow or altering specular reflection. Warm, clean, colorful, realistic or high fantasy ENB presets like (Nat, Rudy, Silent Horizons, Re-Engaged) have the most success in masking the infamous neck seam. Especially harsh or cool lighting from an ENB can also emphasize seams. I noticed slight seams occasionally in testing when I tried them with various dark fantasy or especially harsh style ENB's (Grim, Ominous, Some PRT presets, Berserker). Those are all fantastic ENB's and I'm not saying don't use them... just if you do, expect a higher chance of seeing seams. Hope that clears everything up for you." Spoiler TLDR: welcome to skyrim?
