Should I use Skyrim or Skyrim SE for enhancing the gameplay with adult mods or mods in general?

The reason I ask is, that I have both versions of the game. The only difference is, that I have no expansions for the original edition of the game. So should I mod Skyrim SE or should I buy the expansions for the original Skyrim and add mods for that version?

 

As I can see here on this site there are much more mods for the original Version of Skyrim. I am at a loss here what Skyrim I should use.

This is the "official" thread regarding that issue. Take your time and look it over. There is no "right" answer. I have at least one post on there so I won't have to point out why I still like LE on your thread.
