Guest Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 It happened to me for the third time. I have installed Firefox. Within a month, I have experienced complete disappearance of FF browser like it was never been installed. But after reinstallation, I have all my bookmarks back. I surfed the net and I learned that many others experienced the same problem. Some suggested that we may have malware. I don't know about others, but my laptop is malware and virus free. Is anyone here have had similar problem and might provide theory or solution? Thank you.
pinkfluf Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 HI Your bookmarks coming back suggests that it never left, maybe the desktop icons were corrupted and disappeared but the rest of the files were ok . In other words check "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" to see if files are there then just add the firefox to desktop.

I had to reinstall it.

CaptainJ03 Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 I've been using Netscape (aka Firefox) since 1996, never had this problem. Maybe next time install it not in c:\program but in something where windows doesn't think it's smarter than you, like c:\bin ? The bookmarks are backuped in another directory, typically c:\user\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox so they are kept even if the program vanishes. Or maybe you're using some smart functions (sync) and share them in a cloud, so everyone can access them? ?

It does not say how old this article is, but there is a problem for others that someone is aware of... https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can

Unfortunately, none of suggested solutions helped. Although I don't like Edge I will use it until FF or LL fix this stupid problem. There is a reason why FF doesn't keep only LL logging in open after closing the browser, but I don't know it.
Guest Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 This behavior is not normal. I never had that happen to me at least. I would run Defender in the offline mode to be sure that you do not have anything strange going on. The browser does not self uninstall. You can also check the "Event Viewer" in the "administrative tools" to see, if there is a log of sorts for FireFox. Or anything strange in general.

I know how you feel. I have a problem that my game laptop which is never online will begin to have the antivirus execute start using massive amounts of RAM. It becomes so bad that programs begin shutting down or giving errors for lack of resources until I restart. It is well documented and many articles. I have tried them all. I still must restart that laptop every day. There are several articles on your issue about FF also. I only linked that one.

Everything works fine except LL on FF and Chrome. It works great on Edge. I will see if any of us will have time to reinstall Win 7.

I uninstalled 90.0.2 version, cleaned the registry, restarted my laptop, found older, 83.0 version, installed it, start it, update it to 90.0.2 imported my bookmarks and no more forced logging off from LL after closing the browser. I fucked you up FF. > Thank all of you for help and suggestions. ❤️
