Managing mod folder

Hello, Im confused as to how to manage the mod folder.

I probably screwed up by just downloading and extracting at will and now I have duplicates, old files and a mess.

Any tips or tricks or ways of sorting this out?

Depending on type of mod or cc but just make new folders for them in Mods, just one folder per mod or cc type not and more deep than one.

Example:

Mods/CC Clothing

Mods/CC Hairstyles

Mods/CC Makeup

Mods/CC Skins and Overlays

Mods/CC Shoes

Mods/WickedWhimsMod

Mods/Wicked Animations

etc.

Many cc files have some type description of what they are.

Most mods & script mods have the name of the mod included too.

Like the MCCC mod, all files should start with MC.

If you don't know what something is just leave it alone for now.

You can run S4S later and get an idea of what they are for and move them after.

I sort my CC alphabetically, and then by author if there's enough of it. For example:

Mods/CC/M/Madlen

Mods/CC/P/Praline Sims

Actual mods I keep higher up in the chain. WW and MCCC get their own folders. Certain authors with a bunch of mods get their own folder, and then a pile goes in a catch-all Mods/QOL folder.

I recommend checking your Wicked Whims log after a session. After the list of detected CC, there will be a list of possible duplicates. It should be zero.

Since I get most of my CC from downloaded lots and sims I use a very easy system, I have one folder for CAS and one folder for build objects, I don't seperate it out further than that. Anything that actually change GAMEPLAY I sort by creator, since I want to remember what they are called so I can find them if I need to update the files.

I also keep a few specialised ones like "Traitsandambitions" and a "misc" one.

In addition to that I have one folder for WW itself, and one folder I called "WWExtras" which is for WW-animations.
