LOOT error message

Recommended Posts

I just sorted my plugins with LOOT and I get this message with red background in the header:

Error
Failed to sort plugins. Details:
Cyclic interaction detected between "Lux.esp" and "Water for ENB (Mineral Teal).esp":
Lux.esp
 [Group]
OCW_CellSettings.esp
 [Group]
Water for ENB (Mineral Teal).esp
 User Load After]
Lux.esp

Lux is my light modt and water for ENB I think I do not have to explain!
The error message wasn't there yesterday, even though I've had both mods installed for a while.
Do I have to uninstall one of the mods or take any other action because of the error message?
Does anyone know anything about this?

So what is?

This is a main plugin from Obscure's College of Winterhold or in my case it was overridden by Ultimate College of Winterhold.

Evidently LOOT thinks that the three mods interact in such a way as to give you a loop. I would suggest removing one of the three and rerunning LOOT.

to expand on the "loop"  psalam is noting... (in case, like me the first time I encountered it, you are running into this for the first time)

Suppose you set the load order for three *plugins* as follows

A loads before B

B loads before C

C loads before A

now , what happens (with these three plugins) when the game attempts to compile all of your plugins?

A loads, then B loads, then C loads, then A loads, then B loads, then C loads, then A loads... round and round she goes in an infinite loop, whereupon the compiler chokes and exits noting the cyclic loop failure.

the solution is to determine which should load last. And not have it jump back to the beginning of that particular load contention set. (A "load contention set" - my description, not skyrim's -  is composed of those mod plugins that have conflicts, which in turn require a specific load order for them to avoid overwriting critical data provided by one or more of them)... if that makes sense (hopefully)
