anjenthedog Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 So, I've installed quite a few mods over the past few weeks, not "carelessly" but not "carefully" either. At some point I started noticing an odd situation with many but not all NPCs, as can be seen in the snapshots down in the spoiler below Spoiler ^^^^Note that her entire front (above the waist) has been erased by something. Note that only her ^^^^ nipples have been erased (can't see it, but she's also missing her vag texture). And this is one I often see, where the entire breasts appear to have bn erased (If I were to unclothe her it'd look the same, just the breasts are gone) Note that when encountered, these empty areas on their bodies differ from character to character, and they don't affect all NPCs. Moreover, they can start off fine and then suddenly they'll start looking similar to one of the snaps above, or I'll encounter them, they'll be in a "broken" state, and then later (rarely) I'll see them and they look fine. Some general details Only females are affected All of the affected NPCs (and followers) are afaik CBBE-3BBB (using the same body-mesh resources as my player) Erased areas are only on the breast/front torso and/OR the groin, but are random in coverage and position. I did recently begin using Copy Character Appearance, as in I'm wearing another NPC's body right now...she has a BHUNP body, and my female wearing her is as previously noted, CBBE-3BBB (fwiw, my avatar here on LL is my male vector not my female player, to avoid any confusion about which body is wearing the other body. I'm perfectly aware that using CCA is not advised for applying one gender body(ex: F) onto the other gender body (ex: M) ). This *may or not play into it. As noted before, I have installed quite a few mods over the past few weeks, so I shouldn't prematurely blame any one mod... NO, they're not all blonde, just these three examples accidentally are. It happens on humans, Argonians, Red Guard, Orcs, etc etc, and no matter the hair color And my load order, in case it helps. Nimius Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Did you change anything on armor/outfit in bodyslide or outfitstudio? Some outfits have an "integrated bodymesh" and if you delete some parts of the outfit it may look like your screenshots. Edit: Check if it is an issue with the outfit. Kill one of these npcs and equip the outfit. If the same thing happens to your pc it's a problem with the outfit

However, it's always possible I did so unintentionally. I will check later when I can load the game. thanks for the idea

No, I definitely haven't edited any clothing (ie in Outfit studio or using SSEedit or CK, or in nifskope), just fitted a few items in Bodyslide, None were the generic outfits (a couple of new armor packs, which in fact were removed because they apparently require SKSE64 2.0.19 which I don't have... I use 2.0.17) - Although I did perform that Bodyslide fitting a few days before the first occurrence of the issue. (see that one disabled armor pack "Arcadia Kato" in my list of recently added mods? that's one of them...but, a: it's a BHUNP armor for my BHUNP followers, and b: it's not CBBE-3BBB... and lastly, it's not enabled) Another weird, related thing happened last night... I was speaking with a guard at the Cyrodil border when she suddenly went from being "normal" to missing her chest (see that first snapshot... like that, but clothed) - ftr, the only time I've modded an armor pack was to remove the skirt from the "Shanoa Armor" so I could match what's seen in one of the Yuih Standalone Follower Sha v1.1 renewal promo images Spoiler but that edit (combo of Nifskope and SSEEdit as I recall) was over a year ago and she's the only one who ever wears any of it... (when she chooses that is), and I never saw any of this weird painted out areas thing prior to a few weeks back.

After i was changing Presets i had to do it too to get rid of some seams.. I know its not similar and i don't know if it even makes sense but it won't hurt to try it. (sorry if you mentioned that you tried it. i am kinda tiered and may have less focus)

Fotogen Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 I never had problems like that. LE or SE. The closes to what you have was: 1. body textures missing mip-maps. It has to do how textures are made for computer games. Like: you have 4K textures. But file(*.dds) also has smaller 2k texture builtin. And 1K and so on. Its made in this way, so that game engine doesn't always renders the big 4k, but sometimes smaller one. How to test: get close(engine picks bigger more detailed 4k tex) or far away(engine picks smaller less detailed tex). 2. Crappy customer followers that overwrite default skeleton, body mesh, textures. I got a total mess. Chaos.

I've checked the various textures and they're all intact (in the folders anyway). Also, this is a dynamic issue. it is not static. NPCs that display this artifact can at one moment be fine, the next, they're missing chunks of their bodies and/or clothing. And visa versa. One moment they're missing chunks, the next, they're back to normal. It's also quite weird how the omissions are occurring. Another one captured last night shows the entire midsections of an NPC missing but everything else just fine. The distance to target makes no difference btw. Up close, they're just as broken as at a distance, and visa versa. it's as if they're being dynamically painted over/replaced. If you examine the edges of each of the omissions, (with the exception of the second snapshot - in the spoiler in my first post - with only two circles missing from the store keeper's breasts hiding her nipples) it looks like they were erased using a wide brush tool. IDK, I'm clueless at this point and will probably start the process of reversions until I can isolate it, but not looking forward to it., as it'll probably set me back several levels... again.

I noticed. It looks like race menu overlays, tatoos, tit kit for nipples, but its somehow missing and becomes transparent. Your mod list is [tl;dr] ? Any mod that would add, change, do something in that direction? Body overlays, tatoo, etc.

anjenthedog Posted April 16, 2021 Author Posted April 16, 2021 No, I didn't do any gender changes. I have a dedicated female vector (from new game) and a dedicated male vector (from new game). I don't think it would be some male/female swap, but I suppose it's possible I did perform a body swap using CCA for my female using a female follower, a bit short of a month ago, but ALL of my saves are now showing this issue, including those made prior to using CCA (Copy Character Appearance), even those made while it was installed (it's been installed since early February) but not used. (that is, these artifacts didn't start showing up *when* I installed it, only ?coincidentally? after actively using it) I've checked my female meshes and textures. All seem to be just fine. (with the exception of a few custom followers, all female NPCs are using the same meshes and textures as my player) Interestingly enough, I cleared my CCA clone and found that my character was now displaying the same sort of artifact (in her case, only the upper torso) Spoiler This was resolved (temporarily?) by opening racemenu and loading a previously saved preset for her. Spoiler (sorry for the image scale differences, on the fly image processing) However, I then dashed off to Riften and found that NPC females were still suffering from the erased breasts, or erased torso, or missing crotch. Tried rebuilding my body in Bodyslide to make sure, since it also applies to NPC females. No change, **dynamic body artifacts still present in NPCs., and the missing upper torso was still evident in my player. Again, even on far older saves. (I'm presently at level 68. I started using CCA at ~ level 62, I went back as far as level 50 to check) **- this isn't a static change. they can be fine, then suddenly, and I mean an instantaneous change, some portion of their body is missing, or visa versa I tried using it, but recycleactor has no positive effect on fixing the issue with NPCs.

I edited it (changed one thing); "Determines key merging method (when there are two body morph keys for the same morph) ; 0 - Additive ; 1 - Averaged ; 2 - Maximum iBodyMorphMode=1" Changed this back to the default 0 and all the females have their bodies back..... Cheers Well damn if my skee64.ini doesn't also have that set to 1. (Nioverride.ini too). Reset both to zero and the problem is solved (at least every female I've encountered is normal again.. ~3 dozen so far) Thank you very much! I was minutes away from beginning to gut the app when your reply came in, and I was very unhappy at the prospect of spending my Friday night doing so. (and moreover, from knowing the solution now, it would have been a total waste of time)

Possibly, but I don't think so, unless they were set *when* I actually used it, because it'd been in place for over a month prior with no artifacts. My attempt to "CCA" my way out of it (revert to my original body), as noted above, was only temporary and I ended up reloading with the cloned body still intact and working fine it might be one of the others that I'd installed over the past few weeks, or I might even have edited nioverride.ini and skee64.ini for some reason or another. I know I advised someone on overlays a while back and referenced my own settings, so maybe I tweaked my config while in there...
