Molevalence Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Not sure if this topic was discussed before in the past, but the vast majority of the community here are gamers. Some longer than others, and everyone probably has a story to tell of their first video game moment where the first time they seen a trailer, played a demo, or the game for the first time on release or out of the blue where there was a moment that gave you such chills and goosebumps it made the hairs on your arms stand up. I will get the ball rolling here. The door is open to anything related to gaming and I am interested to read your stories. I will get the ball rolling! November 17th, 2004. Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater. A series I hold close to the chest when this game came out I was fresh out of high school and landed my first real job. I booked 3 days off and pre-ordered the game from the towns EB Games well in advance. Stayed up for 2 days and played the game constantly only pausing for 10-15 minute breathers and stretching every so often. The opening of this game was fantastic especially the music. When the hatch opens to the plane and Snake gets ready for the HALO jump, the music, tone, everything was perfect in my 17 year old eyes and ears. The scene I am talking about starts around 2:17 in.
Gukahn Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Nice idea ? 2001.. Little old me was not even old enough to have played much games and tbh. Didn't have much possibilitys got to play with my older Brothers Ps2 a while. Almost everybody knows the Final Fantasy Series but X was the first one i ever played. It was a nice story, at the time Anime started to become a Thing in Europe and i loved it as a Kid and early teen, so this Game was perfect for me at the time. Not good in storytelling but when i came across THIS freaking Scene i lost it xD Wide open mouth, the entire time the Scene played.. I was hyped as fuck. the rest of the summons where awesome but Bahamut took the cup =D
ToJKa Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 That would be the climax of the Belkan war, when a nation nuked it's own borders to prevent enemies from conquering them. Probably not the first, but the one that sticks with me despite not having played the game in years. Also the last straw for your wingman Pixy, who then later serves as the final boss. War is Hell: The Game. Though that applies to pretty much every game in the series.
Molevalence Posted April 12, 2021 Author Posted April 12, 2021 Great stories so far. Yes, Bahamut was pretty boss in FFX I honestly preferred his model in FF8 personally. As for the Ace Combat series I only played the first 4 if I recall. My favorite one of those was Ace Combat 2.

True to that. After i played X and got my own room and bro gifted me is old playstation i bought 8 and i liked the more draconic look of him better. On the other Hand the other 2 they use almost everytime, Ifrit and Shiva, looked better in X ? And one of these days i am going to play the original 7.. Maybe. I know the story already.
ToJKa Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Played the Steam version of 7 not so long ago, though before the remake was released. Worked quite well, but alas not the same translation i had back in PS1. Some of the sillyness in the translation was fixed And yes, i too think FF8 Bahamut was the best model of him. ...Though i've not seen his FF7 remake version yet. X has the best Shiva, though Don't remeber much of the AC series before 4. Still works for me, the Arsenal Birds in 7 were exactly the kind of sci-fi stuff i want in it. Another series tradition.
Algene Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 This one is ancient and so I am, but being in that room with all that ammo and gear with this in the background was beautiful
Smoothmoove Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Aight, I'm gonna be cliche af, it was Oblivion. I don't think I'd ever played a sandbox game before, I was used to DOS games etc, whatever the old PC's in my house would play (we're talking dad's BEEFY machine was a 600mhz Celeron). Anyway I'd bought my own machine for the KOTOR series and they were amazing, but I finished them and was googling for other games, but I wanted a more medieval flair. Heh. In 2006 when you googled "medieval fantasy rpg", you were going to get a lot of Oblivion results. I remember reading one review that has stuck with me for 15 years "I dropped a sword on the ground, and when I came back a week later it was still there". I'm like, wow, continuity? To the story, though. Pretty simple, I did the dungeon and was like "cool, plays like Kotor but with active combat". Emperor had a cool voice, the guards were gruff, armor was absolutely on point for what I wanted in my medieval fantasy. I saw the emperor die in the cutscene, and exited the sewers. For the time, I had a great PC so when I walked out on max settings and the game loaded to the view of Vilverin, the rolling hills and the green, sunny sights of Cyrodiil I didn't even go anywhere I just stared at the screen, amazed. I still pause for a second whenever I exit that dungeon to remember what younger me felt.
