Frosferes Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 Is Skyim LE capable of handling textures that are BC7 compressed? If not, what is the best option for preserving quality of diffuse and normal maps?
RomeoZero Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 BC7 is only for DX10~11 games. The best quality for your own game would be a mix of DDS and TGA formats. DDS for 1~2K Diffuse textures and 2k~1K TGA 32\RLE (alpha) compression for Normal maps.

I might end up making 2 separate texture sets anyway since both games have formats the other doesn't support.
27X Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 TGA is lossless, the rest are lossy, including anything with BC in the title.
